You may be wondering how to replace the cushions on the welded-on strikers on the front doors of the Indian Head Corporation cars from the early to mid-1970s. You can split one on an angle and roll it on, then super glue it. That will work for a while. Or do this. A ten-gauge copper wire is the same thickness as the cushion. Peal that old striker cushion out and wrap the striker with 10-gauge wire. Takes about 16 inches of wire. This will also work for the Superiors—the ones with the rubber under the steel band. Cut the band off and wrap the peg.
After wrapping solder around the wire to keep it in place, you can use a small file to smooth it if necessary. If you're doing the passenger's side, the driver's is worse.
