Dad's Down - But Not Out

For all who know my father, Gene Lichtman, he is in the hospital at the moment. He had difficulty walking or even moving his legs, and had several falls Sunday at home, and was admitted to a local hospital that night. They have not determined definitely what the cause is, but they feel he may have had a minor stroke last week which has affected areas that were weakened by his earlier (2000) stroke. His mind is OK – well, as good as it was before anyway, since he’s mostly complaining about the hospital food, etc. – but it’s his legs that aren’t working. He will likely be discharged in a couple days to a nursing and rehab facility near home. We are working on the assumption that, if his ability to get out of bed and to walk improves, he will be moving into assisted living at the same place. Please keep him in your thoughts.

Sorry to hear about your Dad Steve. We will be sure to keep him in our thoughts tonight and for a long time to come. Next time you see him, let him know that his PCS family is thinking about him and that we are pulling for him. Wishing him the best!

Steve,

Please extend our best wishes to your Dad on a speedy recovery. Having gone thru the same thing with my Dad, I certainly sympathize with you regarding the difficulties this presents for all the family.

Steve, you and your dad are in our thoughts and prayers. It seems to me that the problem with living to a ripe old age, is old age. Give your father our best wishes.
