Check these new style hearses

The Cadillac looks good. Well balanced and properly thought out. Kudos to Rance for creating this image. Now, if the final product looks as good...we'll really have something. Here's hoping that the folks at Accubuilt can do as well. The Lincoln is still fugly.

Here are some shots that I just made just yesterday while in Nashville at Ambulance and Coach Sales of one of the new Superior Lincoln MKT Coaches. Let me tell ya that this thing is a monster! Its at least 6 foot tall and about 22 foot long. The landau panel its self is the length of the casket extend table and between the table and partition there is a bout a three foot wide area for a flower tray. This one was a pearl white color. Granted it does look better in person than in the pictures but it still will take some adjustment and getting used to as this looks like this is what we'll be getting on both Cadillac and Lincoln coaches.

In my opinion, the Cadillac is not as much space age looking as European looking. It reminds me a lot of the full window cars that have always been popular across Europe.

The Lincoln... That is another story...
I can say that other than the back end of the Lincoln, I actually kinda like it. I like the idea of the flower rack across the front. I like the look of the interior. The landau should probably be a little lower in the front to line up more with the windows and create a better "flow". I don't like the hatch idea and I sure don't like the rear with the hatch closed.

I was told there is going to be a 90 degree hinged door option for that car. I noticed that it didn't have the sliding partition glass ether so it looks like the sliding partition glass is now gone from the new coaches as well, at least on the Accubuilt product. And in the rear I bet there's at least four foot of clearance from the casket floor to the headliner in that thing. Also I got word to that it looks like 2012 will be the end for the commercial glass car as well.

Great pics. Im glad to see it next to another coach for size reference. I always thought it would be huge just judging by the size of the 'normal' Lincoln MKT.
As Ive said many times before I like it, but would prefer the side hinge rear door and a different color, at least give it a black top, which I think is classy. For some reason I never got into the white over white.
Jeremy, How wide is it compared to other coaches? in the pics it seems somewhat narrower.

Well.......

The Cadillac

While I can at least appreciate the windows all lining up nicely and being proportionate looking overall....I never have and never will understand why an AMERICAN car's designers would adopt a European body style. Who the hell wants a euro-inspired version of what used to be an American classic? I have old Cadillac literature hanging in my house from the 40's and 50's with slogans like "Creating a higher Standard". What happened to creating the "love affair" with the American auto? Cadillac used to build cars that could stop traffic. Look at them now, they evoke little to no emotion whatsoever. They are cars built without passion.

The Lincoln

It's like my Dad used to tell me growing up on the farm, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"

As long as I've been around here I've always appreciated Rance's effort to do something different from the big boys.

IF I were in the business I'd have one easily.

Ford QVM?

Sure getting space age looking.

Thanks for posting those ads. Rance appears to be one step ahead of his competition with that artist's rendering of his Cadillac XTS prototype coach. As for the MKT ad, I'm a bit surprised his company isn't listed as a QVM. Supposedly, he's building a coach on the MKT chassis.

Ditto. I am also not crazy about the back panel on the Lincoln or the oversized grill either. The unit in Jeremy's pics does look very functional though. I also like the "Paramount" style window the Lincoln as.

I don't want to criticize anyone's personal design. I'm also not in the funeral business. That being said, I just don't find these cars attractive. The Cadillac and Lincoln should be the epitome of the big luxury car. They just don't have it anymore, and it's too bad.

Lincoln MKT baleen grille??

For some reason the Lincoln front grille reminds me of a whale's mouth open so you can see the baleen strainer plate that catches the small sea animals and plankton that they feed on...Also the lift gate looks cheap and crappy. I think the Lincoln and Accubuilt designers could've done better; NOT very stylish at all, in my humble opinion... :stars: :pat: :twak:

The Cadillac is better looking but still the styling isn't what it used to be like years ago :my2cents:

I really, really don't like the lincoln, but I think the grille looks slightly better than last years...but it still looks like an odd crossover. If they would change the body lines behind the side doors and the tail lights and get rid of the dip in the panel, it would look better.

Rance's design doesn't look as odd as the Lincoln, but I still think it looks funny. It reminds me of a mid 80's volvo station wagon. Plus, I have never been a fan of limousine style hearses.

I remember when the 2000 Cadillac hearses came out with their bright chrome wheels, I thought they looked space age.

:pat:

American auto manufacutres (like many other industries) have totally forgotten how to be a world leader. Cadillac is no longer called the "Standard of the world" Today they are nothing more than life size snap-fit models that the wheels will fall off if played with!
