Back-to-the-bricks 2012

Brady D Smith

PCS Life Member / PCS Past President
Janet and I took the 1959 Crown Royale out last night and finished the rest of the rolling cruise route at Back-To-The-Bricks (we were rudely interupted the night before by a malfunctioning voltage regulator). It was such a nice evening that we took the Crown home and broke-out the '77 Lifeliner to do the whole route over again before dinner. We saw a few friends along the way including our dear friend Brad Ross (who came to our rescue the night before) and his parents. We also saw this pristine Eureka Pontiac. Tom McPherson really knew how to style a car...........and love this color. I have no idea who owns this but it sure is pretty. Tonight its Corvair and Impala night

I'm going to be there Saturday but probably not much sightseeing time. The GM dealership that I work at has a display of performance parts and that's where I will be all day.

Today was our first day at B2B.

Digger and I met up with Kim, Rocky, Janet & Brady for dinner.
So great to see everyone again and enjoy dinner together.

We met up with Kevin and his 3 kids after dinner.

Tomorrow is the big car show that invades the whole downtown of Flint !
Can't wait to check out the cars and beauties at the show.

I will post some photos in the next couple days !

Darren

Thought I would post a couple pictures from the Back to the Bricks weekend. It was great seeing all my PCS friends.

The lady with the spider web dress was there with her hearse...

The lady with two Black Widows tattoo's saw my shirt and asked what it was all about. I told her it was the name of a hearse club. She said she had two black widows. I asked if I could see them and she said sure !

Nice tatatoos.....er..... tatoos. Yeah.

OK, I'm back.

But what is up with the HATS guys??? Rocky, if you shaved off the mustache, you'd be Abe Lincoln!

Thanks for the photos. Looks like you all had fun! That's great.

Steve

I have to agree with the nice tata's.

She came up to me from behind and asked what the Black Widow on my shirt was all about. I told her and she mentioned the tattoo's.

I didn't know they were there when I asked to see them.
But was pleasantly surprised to say the least !!!

The hats...

I tried to buy a shortie top hat like Rocky had. I saw his in the past at a meet.
When I was in WI at his car show in May the hat shop in his area didn't have any.

When we were walking down the street in Flint we walked into a hat shop looking for a shortie top hat. No luck.

They did have a tall top hat and a bowler as well. Since I needed new ones for entertaining, as the ones I have are sun faded, I figured I would get the two anyway.

After Rocky saw the grey one, he figured he would get one too.

We didn't want to carry them, so we wore them. I did have the bowler in a bag so I got stuck carrying one anyway.

I guess we stuck out like a sore thumb.

Channel 12 news asked us a few questions and we did a "live to air" interview with them that lasted less than a minute I'm sure.

Well, after the interview, we meet the others at the restaurant as we had to wait 10 minutes or so before the live spot and the others were seated at the restaurant waiting for us.

Kim got a call as we were live on the air from her friend saying she saw us on TV. That was the first of many more people coming up to us and telling us that they saw us on TV.

We were together for the first 4 people coming up to Rocky and I sawing they saw us on channel 12. Then more and more when I was walking around.

Some even took pictures of me as if I was George Barris or something.
I guess they thought we were famous car people and were on TV talking about the event.

It was strange and cool at the same time.

If that many people mentioned it and were not afraid to talk to strangers, I bet there were way more who didn't say anything but saw us on TV.

I had at least 50-70 others saying COOL HAT, NICE HAT, WHERE DID YOU GET THAT HAT kinda comments above and beyond the TV comments.

I had a few street people want me to give them the hat too. :4_11_9:

I have to say that the Black Widow lady was my favorite part of the week-end even with all the fame that TV spot got us. :thumb:

One thing for sure, I will make sure I have the hat with me next year !

Thanks for asking,
Darren

I was there and thats how i spotted darren & jen, and rocky walking down saginaw street during back 2 the bricks car display, darren and rocky where wearing those top hats. and i did witness people walking up to darren later in day and taking his picture.
