Anybody Interested in a Van?

This may not be the right venue and if so feel free to move it but.............. for those of you that saw Bob Smith's stunning Chevy van at the Hudson Meet, I have learned this morning that Bob is interested in selling it. I would scarf this up myself but I am strapped this year so that will not be in the cards for me. It really is a nice car and in very good shape. Serious inquiries can contact me direct.
 
Very nice Type II ambulance

The original owner of this 1980 Wheeled Coach/Chevrolet was the Meador & Son F.H. in Centralia, MO. There were two rigs in this order; the other matching, but on a Ford chassis. The striping (same design as seen here) was originally light blue. When I visited this place in the early '90s their coach was a '63 M-M combination.

While certainly not a procar, this rig is in excellent condition and is an interesting piece of EMS history.

I have not confirmed the asking price but in the neighborhood of 11K. He is considering selling it to make room for something else so I would imagine if it was something that interested him he "might" consider a trade but I cannot do his speaking for him. I know Bob is a great guy and if you had something he was interested in he would consider it. But remember, despite the fact he is a funeral director, he is an "ambulance guy" like me so it would likely have to be a pretty nice ambulance.

I like it. Who has this van? Just joined today, have a combo I just bought from Texas on eBay, but also own a 68 IH and 28' ford ambulance/hearse. But I like this van. Looks like it is in Ohio by the plates. I am in Carrollton, Ohio.

I have trying to get you to some of our events, you missed Hudson which was a big deal. I understand you have some pretty impressive cars and would love to see them. To private message, click on the persons name, and then when the next window opens, click on contact information in the top middle of the page. You should be able to figure it out from there.
The reason you are a Junior Member, is because you are new to the website. If you want to jump to the head of the class, then use the Blue icon button in the top right hand corner, and become a PCS Member. From there, you can also become a site supporter, as many of our members are, by using the yellow icon button in the upper left hand corner. Site Supporters are the people that help us to keep the website going on a daily basis. Both of these are voluntary, but will help you to avoid getting a ticket from Chief Ron next time you happen to be speeding through Marlboro Township on the way to buying your next professional car..

I'd like to bring that rig home to Mid-Missouri, but unfortunately lack $11k in discretionary funds at the moment.
 
This is a great looking van, and you don't see many Type IIs with a Q! I thought I'd seen on the door tag that it's a 1983, but that was at night so I could be wrong. Naturally I was comparing it w/ my '79 Starline van. They're very similar with the most noticeable difference being high back buckets front and rear. The evolutionary wheel turned slowly on vans back then. Mine has a dash mounted ignition! Can't remember if Bob's has that or column mounted. Since I couldn't get the little fireballs on the hood to work, I just don't see this one in my future :yankchain: Seriously it's one fine looking vanbulance! The striping pattern had me assuming it was a Ford until I looked a little closer. Having more experience driving my '79, these trucks are surprisingly easy to drive and handle better than you'd think, even with HD 8-(bias)ply tires! With trucks being several years behind cars feature-wise, the little kick panel air vents and vent windows are great old school features! It looks like this van has radials, I forgot to look. I bet tires for these long-discontinued 16.5" wheels are hard to find.

Doc, you don't know the half of it! When my van's right rear tire began unravelling on the road to Hudson, it ended up sitting along the road over night until we could find them. And then they ain't cheap when you do find them.
 
It is an 80. Believe me if I had 11K laying around we wouldn't even be having a discussion here because I would be outside stocking it.
