A friend of mine sent me this today, he said it was at a car show he was at, and knew it would make me sick.

Josh ,i agree with you on that, "leave it stock" but when the last time you seen a hearse doing 3 wheel action? and matt great save on a other coach!!

I for one will be so glad when the big wheels and rubber band tires go out of style again. but like clothing nothing is new they had 24 inch wheels in the 1910's. but on the high fender open cars back then they looked OK. on the newer cars they look like a 4 inch tie with a pinstriped suit. the only saving grace is the man gets tired of it in a hurry and the cars winds up in a yard for parts for others.

The Devil's Advocate speaks!

Josh: why is it ok for someone like you to modify your S-10 & Ranger pick ups into the "customized" drag trucks but not ok for this guy to customize his car? Dont get me wrong, I prefer stock original cars too but it just seems contradictory. Its not what I would do to a hearse but lets face it, its an 80s era coach that is more dispensable than a 50s or 60s coach.

Rick, its really no different. I'm sure there are some people that think customizing a truck is wrong too. And your right, at least it is a 80s coach. But here are a couple more, a AHA Lincoln, Superior Cadillac, and 49 Chevy hearse, not sure the coach builder. Also a pic of my 86 bagged and boddy dropped Ranger that also had a V8 in it, and yes it had a aluminum radiator and eletric fan. And a pic of my 34 Ford street rod pick up I had. I'm sure there are just as many people out there who don't like to see a 34 Ford customised as much as we don't like to see a Pro-Car customised. The good thing is on my 34, the only thing original they started with was the cab and doors. the bed, fenders and frame and grille were all after marcket.

I know this is being said with the wrong group, But i dig:myopinion: the looks of the lincoln hearse and the cad one with the bags and white wall's!!!

Rick, not trying to pick a fight - but the difference is that there are tens of thousands of S-10's or Rangers produced every year, and they are produced primarily by machines to a standard design. There are only a handful of pro-cars produced every year, and they are custom coachbuilt. There are a lot more 20 year old Rangers than there are 20 year old coaches.

And, we're a professional car club!

OK, that said, while we don't like it, yes, it's "their" car and they can do what they want to it.

I understand completely what youre saying Steve and I agree. I wasnt attempting to start a fight either; rather I was taking the "devils advocate" position. While the AHA that Josh showed is very cool looking, Im more distressed by the mods to it than to the original pics of the Caddy due to the rarity of the AHA Lincoln. In the same vein, my 86 Lincoln S&S is one of only 14 built in 1986, and I wouldnt dream of modifying it and have taken offense when others at car shows have suggested it. Unfortunately, not everyone views pro cars the same way we do.

Well, the coach in first picture Josh posted WAS a 1977 Miller-Meteor Cadillac Landau Traditional.:soapbox::broken_heart::cuss::mad:

And NOPE it's not mine, its still safe with me!:17875:

it boils down to

I prefer my procars to be as factory fresh as can be or very close to that. Knowing I will ruffle some feathers here but...the final rule is, when you own it you can do whatever you like to whatever it is, be it a car, truck, bike, lawn mower, or whatever. Personally I like custom cars too. Having worked hand fabricating cabs for IH for years I can appreciate the work that goes into a custom job. If you don't like the why your widget was built then change it if you want to. I don't have to like it. I don't have to live with it. I will leave my widget the way it was built. By the same token I should not have to hear about how I should change my whatever to be in line with what you like. It is mine and it is the way I like it. Making something into your own is one of the few freedoms we still have in this country. It is called self expression. While I don't have to agree with your self expression I think it is still your right. My soap box is now closed for the evening.
Thank you and good night.

First of all, it is Jeremy's car, I just didn't want to say anything. We took it out cruising last weekend, and man did we pick up the chicks.

This is just 'my opinion', but I personally would never customise a professional car, beings that for 1, they are 'Professional' Cars, and in my opinion should remain that way, and be displayed that way. 2, there were only so many of each of them ever built, and when there gone, there gone., aposed to cars that they made thousands and thousands of, and there are still thousands of them left. Outside Professional Cars, I personally do like hot rods and custom cars, but also like restored originals just as much. There are also some cars outside Professional Cars that I would never dream of customizing or hot roding, but thats my opinion. While I may not agree with all of them, I do respect other peoples opinions, and what they like to do with there cars.:my2cents::myopinion:

By the way rick, I know that you weren't trying to start anything, you were just looking at it from both sides, and I respect that.

This talk of ORIGINAL vs/and/or CUSTOM will never change or go away. Ever ! If anything, it will lean towards custom as parts get harder to find and the cars get older.

I would suggest just getting use to it.

Although this club is based on ORIGINAL, there will always be people who like one or the other or both.

Too many factors determining how a car ends up.
Could be:
I have enough to make it all original.
I don't have the money to make it original.
I can't find the parts to make it original.
I like Hot Rods and that's what will make me happy.
If it isn't original, I don't want it.
Etc...

My first hearse ever was a 1968 MM all original and it stayed that way.
After attending the 1993 PCS meet... I wanted a 1960-62 hearse.
I waited 15 years to find an all original early '60's car and I could finally afford one !!! Then I found another 18 months later. I was thrilled. I will have a 3rd next week.

It's not like you can just say today I will go buy one.
They often do not come up for sale so people settle for what they can get and afford now.

I have a couple '70's cars too but they are not what I wanted, they are what I settled for until I found what I wanted.

Hopefully everyone can just get along and even if you are a purist, remember, we all are interested in the same type of cars.

If you are against original cars, there are lots of custom clubs out there !

I see both sides and although I prefer original, there are some cool customs out there.

More than the cars... the people are what makes this group special !!!

Group hug !

Some online friends had a lot of fun when I was deciding what wheels to go with on Miamitown. They made suggestions by sharing these images. Wish I had this kind of talent with a computer! I've never bagged a car & never intend to, but these guys had fun and the 2 images below were my favorites because they totally changed the WHOLE look of the ambulance, one is bagged with big rims... the other is chopped, tinted, and bagged.
