ambulance attendants uniforms

Hahaha!
This was the famous "Dyna-Smock" of the '70's, which was available in both blue and orange.

My "payment" for my consultation service on the wardrobe was, of course, the patches. He sent them to me after filming was complete. They are now framed, and hang on the wall (right next to my original-from-the-movie "F+B Ambulance Service" patch.)

Steve, I think that the crews from Randallstown Ambulance wore the Dyna-Smock for their uniform back in the late '70s early '80s.

How did you get one of the "F+B" ambulance patches!? That's so cool!

"Humble Heroes" is available from me directly at P.O. Box 103, Blanchester, OH. 45107 for $12 plus $2 shipping. It is also available for the same price on Ebay at:

I also just entered into an agreement with the National Museum of Funeral History for the book to be offered in their giftshop.

Chris-I posted a reply to his early on saying I wasn't able to come up with much in the way of uniforms worn by funeral home ambulance crews. That being the case, I hope you're not disappointed with "Humble Heroes". If it doesn't meet your expectations, let me know.

I had seen it talked about, and could never find it. I'll buy pretty much anything even loosely related to ambulance service history. I put the title in quotes, because that was the only part of the title I knew. Searched Google when I first seen the title on here, just didn't know where to buy it. I regularly search eBay, like twice a day, using the same search criteria. It popped up, just above a PA Ambulance Assoc. patch that I just remembered I wanted to bid on. I'll enjoy just learning a little bit more, that's what life is for..

Uniforms

The nicest uniform I ever wore as an EMT was when I first started . We wore a light blue military style uniform shirt that the boss got from JC Penney's to save money . We wore navy blue Ben Davis pants with them and Dynamed jackets with liners in them that really didn't help keep us toasty worm in those Idaho winters . Now we wear tactical style navy blue jumpsuits , short sleeve for summer and long sleeve for winter as an option to our regular white military style shirts and navy blue EMS pants .

Bell Helmets?

What did your guys' uniforms @ Los Gatos look like Robert ?

This is more for Robert from Los Gatos...... I didn't see any of these attendant pictures with Bell Helmets like the ones worn by Superior Ambulance personnel in Escondido? Was that more of a CA Only thing? MM

When we re-started Los Gatos Ambulance Service in 1971, we wore white shirts and pants, with black belts and shoes. Our jackets were navy blue. We later changed to navy blue pants. We also sometimes wore 8 point police caps. The attached photo was taken the day we transported our very first patient. I'm on the right and my business partner is in the foreground. The ambulance was a 1963 Ford van that we converted. It made us enough money during our first few months to allow us to buy a 1966 C/B lowtop, and a 1957 M-M Futura lowtop.

In Santa Clara County (Silicon Valley) helmets were worn by ambulance crews working for Palo Alto Ambulance and Field's Ambulance.
