Kent, you REALLY landed on one of my pet peeves. People (actors/actresses, authors, singers, tv personalities, and whoever else ESPECIALLY CLERGY) giving everyone the benefit of their "wisdom" regarding politics. To me, that is a complete turn-off as in I'm not gonna spend another penny of my money for anything that benefits them in any way. One of my favorite actors (in a very popular tv sit-com) shot his mouth off and as a result, I won't allow his presence on my television when I'm here.
My philosophy is quite simple.....act, sing, write, preach, entertain me or whatever but SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT POLITICS. If I want your opinion on politics, I will cheerfully beat it out ouf you.
End of my little rant!! Thank you for your kind attention. (He kicks the soapbox aside and resumes normal activity.)

"Let me mention one other thing that I think might be noteworthy for this particular thread - I am constantly amazed at the emails I get from well intentioned friends - with a political or even theological message that often conflicts with own beliefs - which I try to keep pretty private. I just heard a nationally known funeral service speaker who was excellent - but he ventured into an area I have tried to stay out of doing funeral service continuing education classes - he made fun of some presidential administrations. While I actually agreed pretty much with what he was saying, I couldn't help but think if there were others in the room who were alienated at that point by his message because of his jokes. In 2010, I got turned off quickly by a gospel singer in a quartet who took to the podium and threw out his political beliefs betwixt songs. Sometimes, it is best to leave things like that out of discussions...
But, I am often wrong... so..."
