A funny thing happened tonight

I was sitting around my apartment tonight and realized that there wasnt anything good on TV. Just me and my 7 month old Aussie Shepherd mix puppy. If you know anything about "Aussies", you know that they are a hyper dog. Throw a puppy into the equation and Shadow resembles a kindergardner with ADHD. I start looking through my DVD's and decide to watch "The Boy Who Loved Hearses" : the story of John Keel. As the movie is playing, I realize that Shadow is being waaaaaay too quiet. I figure "oh lord, whats she doing now?" As I start to get up to find out where she is and whats she doing, I notice she is sitting in front of the tv, intensely watching it, with her head cocked to one side! She was totally preoccupied with what was going on on the tv! It was kind of a surreal moment!

Sometimes they just seems to see or feel things that we don't. :wowguy:

And you are soo correct. Usually when the dog is quiet, there is a reason, and most oftem that reasom is mischief....

I know what you mean Rick. Anytime a pup goes quiet, better be quick. We just got my son's dog and he has been a challange to say the least. Honestly, I think Terri and I are just too old for this stuff.

I had aussie mixed with lab& irish setter too mine was brown with white star on his chest you said + he always had to be in the middle of everything. they are great guard -hearding dog's.

Aussies

As a person who is owned by two aussies, one a full size and one a mini, I can attest to two things about them. They are the smartest dog that God created and they all have ADHD. My old dog, (11 years), has diabetes and is blind, but that doesn't keep her from being our watchdog. She will bark at anone and anything until she has a chance to sniff it. The mini has little dog syndrome which makes her think that she is the baddest thing around until someone turns and says Boo to her, at which time it is under the bed for her.
Having owned many other breeds over the years, I have come to several conclusions. Aussies are the smartest, Labs are the most loving, best with kids and hardest headed and mutts probably the best all around dogs. You don't want to know my thoughts on pits.

I know all about dogs that watch tv. I have two rottweiler brothers and they are both tv watcher's, especially if there are animals in it. They can be in the other room and hear a few notes to a comerical and come booking into the room and run up to the tv because they know that there is a animal in it. Sounds like there is too much tv time around here!!!

Speaking of John Keel, here is a tidbit from the Bucyrus event that I overlooked. While going thru my possessions, looking for things to take to Bucy, I came across a letter John had written to me back in the '90's, in response to some pix I had sent him. Since Chief Ron had won the Keel Award, I gave him the letter to keep. I had completely 4gotten about the incident, and knew nothing about John at the time of our exchange. A small world, indeed.
