'60 Eureka and '62 Miller Meteor hearses in England

Martyn, thanks for posting the brochure. I really miss the MAD MEN era of copywriters.

Yes, thanks Martyn.

I know very little about these cars and had no idea that corner Windows were an option.

I bet those windows make reversing easier but sort of detract from the look in my opinion.

forgot that. the 400 started with the 65 modal then the 62 has the jet-away same as the 58. if your having difficulty coming up with a original carb. I do have a source here and there is a locale man that can rebuild it for 100 bucks. or a man could send a kit with it.

not being a mechanic I fumble threw what ever I have here till I get it right. but I would guess it should look like this

That's a very kind offer which I'll bear in mind John, and yes - that's how the bracket should look, it pushes the lower TV rod forward, not backwards.

The dealer I bought the car from understands the problem and thus far isn't shirking his responsibility. He's sent me a bracket to try to fit to the edelbrock carb and has said that if I can't get it to function properly he'd replace the carb but we'll see.

We have a repair and Bodyshop and do all our own repairs so hopefully can at least get the car driving this week. There was no rush because I was awaiting the uk registration document which only arrived a few days ago so I couldn't legally drive the car anyway. And today my number plates arrived so I'm good to go (well, sort of anyway as these plates aren't legal for use in the UK but I run them on all my other Cadillacs and haven't had a problem before)

I've now fitted a bracket to the carb which pushes the TV rod forward, not backward.

All I did was screw the bracket on, relocate the TV rod onto the bracket, adjust so it felt sort of right and test drove the car. It drove perfectly, changing into all four gears fine and kicking down a gear no problem when the pedal is floored.

The car drives great - sounds odd with the edelbrock carb and non-standard air filter but other than that it seems pretty much perfect.

I've decided my easiest route is to swap the standard carb and air filter over from my '62 Cadi Coupe Lowrider - that car's already modified so originality isn't a big issue. That way the coupe gets the new carb and the MM goes back to standard.

Not sure if you know or not, but your Eureka was in the movie called "Kissed" when it was in its original colors. I think it was in another one too, but that's the only one I know for sure right offhand.
Welcome to the PCS. Lots of very knowledgeable people here that can help you out without any issue that pops up on these CC cars.

Thanks John,

I was aware of this - I have a list of the films that the car has supposedly been in (I haven't had time to research this in detail so can't confirm all of them for sure). Here's the list with a YouTube link to the David Bowie film:

Mr Rice's Secret - David Bowie
http://youtu.be/1CS7GsgRJos

Cadence - Charlie Sheen
Kissed - Molly Parker
Steven King's "IT"
Steven King's "Riding the Bullet"
Disney's "Adventures of Spin and Marty"
Happy Gilmore (scenes mostly deleted but apparently back door was in the film very early on when his dad died)

When you say "in its original colours", I know it was silver at some point in time but I'm unsure if this was the original colour. Is there any way to confirm the colour it left the Eureka factory with ?

I guess I have no "real" proof the silver was original, just going by what I heard many years ago. The Eureka data tag should have the color code how it left the factory.

Just had a look through your photo album - you've had some fantastic cars in the past but I love the '49 Knickerbocker. Other than the "minor" modification that shoots flames out the back is it stock ?

updated engine, trans and a couple other little things (I bought it this way) but other than that its stock. It will return to total stock if I ever get the funds to give it the restoration it needs.
