My car, thanks for mentioning it. Hadn't planned on it selling last time, just wanted the word out that a M+M was going to be available, and to piggy-back on the buzz surrounding the Eureka from the Bullock auction. Now the car has been cleaned up and the engine is back in and running. Trim is in place just to show it is all there, and I traded a PCS member my 61 flower car for the brand-new windshield. The AC that came with the car was an aftermarket system, installed when the car was new. Compressor and all the other parts are there, I just left the compressor off because it's incredibly heavy and was in the way. the original (Texas) owner also had an inverter installed, with a tape player and a speaker behind the grill so he could play funeral music grave-side.
Would love to guarantee the car gets a true and faithful restoration, but that will be up to the buyer. My plans were to restore it, but go with very subtle ghost flames, and pull the flames into the glass by etching. Also was going to use it to transport my '56 Lotus eleven sports racer. I know many of you would cringe at the thought, but how cool would that be at the Monetery Historics? plans change, now I've got two kids in college, and no Lotus. decided I wouldn't have an extra $30k in my checking account any time soon to do the restoration. If any PCS member wants to check the car out in person or via a proxy, it's located near Boulder CO.
just as an aside, and to head off the outrage, I don't really expect to see an offer for 30k. I wanted to do an extended auction so the word gets out to all who would be interested, and this seemed to be the best approach. Not that I won't take an offer for 30k, but I really expect to re-list it for a regular auction, with no BIN, and we'll see where it goes. I've already had offers exceeding the last BIN listing, and 700 views in less than 12 hours, so I think my goal of getting the word out has been successful.
