'54 Meteor Service Car update.

Just a quick update for the group on our '54 Meteor Pontiac Service Car.
It's alive! We recently got the ol' gal back on the road, albeit with a non-stock drivetrain. We're going to enjoy it while continuing to restore it back to somewhat original looking condition. An interior color change, and some mechanical upgrades to make it more road-able for longer trips.
BUT!...for now, she's a driver! Looking forward to attending as many shows as possible.
We created a Facebook page for the build to follow along on its journey.

What did you put in for an engine? Thought about it on my own, but the thing is running ok, and I'm not taking trips in it.

Finding a Pontiac engine is not very easy. I did the same with my 1964; I need a running engine. I had a mechanic replace the valves on my 1953 straight-8. That helped, but what helped was figuring out that things were turned backward in most engines and getting the timing set correctly.

We've been thinking about getting the original drivetrain rebuilt and put back in it sometime down the road. It'sIMG_20240721_104625478.jpg locked up at the moment, that's why we went with another motor.

Got around to reinstalling the rear fender stainless today. Had to layout and redrill all the mounting holes due to the complete lower sheetmetal replacement. Not as hard as I anticipated, but not easy either. Wifey is working on cleaning up the fenderskirts, and we'll have to redrill for the mounting brackets as well. Hoping to havd all the lower stainless back on by next Sunday. We'll be taking it back to where it served as a service car, in Frederick MD. There's an all Pontiac show there, so I thought what better time for a homecoming. While we're down there, we'll also be meeting up with the previous owners that bought it from Hicks Funeral Home in 1972, for a little reunion.

I have tried to work with the pictures so they will post; however, I can't seem to find a reason why it's not working. I have just copied and will post the picture in this post for you until I can find the reason. I just tried and got the same result. I believe the reason is that they are too large.

I believe that this might be the reason, but I am just guessing.

In photos, HDR (High Dynamic Range) is a technique that captures and displays a greater range of light and shadow detail than is possible with a single exposure, resulting in images with more detail in both bright and dark areas. The camera takes multiple photos at different exposures and blends them into one, creating a final image that more closely resembles what the human eye sees.
