2013 Cadillac XTS Photo Released

thanks, they seam to be stuck on this style. some one in charge wants them to all look alike from the top to the bottom. trucks or cars then have a same appearance. to me it looks like it got run into a brick wall fattened out and shorten the front end. what looked Ok on the CTS doest across the rest of the line. oh to be 70s again. I will say the construction on the 2000 stuff is a lot easer to do body work on then the 70s though. remove a couple plastic pins and it all falls down. you can carry the bumper out the back in one hand.

Hard to imagine this making a dignified coach or limousine, though. Bentley built a "one off" State Limousine for Queen Elizabeth. Someone ought to build a more appropriate front for the commercial chassis.

I, for one, am not amused. As far as I am concerned, the only acceptable car in the looks department is the Chrysler 300. If only Chrysler would offer it in a coachbuilder package. Maybe the new Cadillac and the new Lincoln will spur Chrysler on to that project.

its a lot better than what lincoln is providing. The coachbuilders at least have something deent to start with. The Lincoln was butt ugly to begin with!I agree with Jonathan though; the Chrysler 300 is a good looking car to convert.

So much for the Cadillac Image of the past.

Once a luxury car of distinction...
now just another car on the road that looks like every other one driving by.

I'm sure glad they made cool cars in the 50's and '60s !!!
Something people are still proud to own.

I have to say that the 300 would likely be a better choice as well.
Still has a luxury look and full size too.
:specool:

GM ! ...what are you doing ?!
:pat:

After another look at the new Cadillac....

Besides still being disappointed with what I see...

I would say the Ford Flex would make a better Hearse than the new Cadillac !

GM... I think you better go back to the drawing board before you lose it all !
:twak:
Dignity and sales !

I wonder if anyone at GM will lose their heads over this !
If not, they should !

Krystal has been building hearses on the Chrysler 300 since at least 2007. There are also some overseas companys that have been doing it.

People are increasingly distanced from the old ideas of formality and dignity, I notice this more and more (as I get older...?). Maybe as people are more attuned to popular culture (i.e. low or no culture in the classic meaning) they don't know or care any more. Almost all cars now seem to be styled to appeal to basketball player millionaires and their followers. I like the plain Fords including pickups, and older cars, more and more. Walk up to a Cadillac of the 1950s or 1960s which is in good shape. Notice all the metal in the grille, the solidity of the bumpers and body work, and how the styling gets your attention. Drive one adn notice the effortless driving, the glide and the quiet. They were not meant to be sporty and when driven as intended the experience says quality. if you push and rush them, esp. on curvey or rough roads, they don't do well as they were not meant to.
I stopped by the funeral home several years ago to pay respects to the family of a guy I went to high school with. There was a flower arrangement on a stand, consisting of a foam cross surrunded by flowers with a ribbon on it. Spelled out on the ribbon in glitter was "Numb Nuts". I assume this was a reference to a nickname for the dearly departed. :pat:
I hauled it out of there pretty quickly.

will we are the people buying this junk. at these exorbitant prices. it's every were from buildings to bridges. they can't do any construction here that doesn't look like a ski lodge. I'm not sure the answer. the more we educate the worse it seams we get. maybe being handed a student lone that will be forgiven insisted of working your way thew school has put to many people with only the pay check interest in the work force. the only difference in the gm line is the nose and fluff in the interior. given that they wounder why people choose to go to the cheaper priced cookie cuter. the chyrsler 300 is still a dinky car. got a lot of go but it still a tiney car compaired to a 60s new yorker or 300. no class across the board is all I see.

You know, there was a time when a Cadillac looked like a Cadillac. They had a real road presence. An identity that commanded respect and admiration. That's what drove so many to aspire to Cadillac ownership. A Cadillac in the driveway made a bold and clear statement - you had arrived. You were a success. Apparently that's no longer a significant design criterion at GM's flagship Division. This 2013 Cadillac looks a little bland....to me anyway. But, let's face it.....it looks a heck of a lot better that those Lincoln monstrosities and....it's a passenger car....not an SUV. Ths has real possibilities. Although the front end appears stubby - which will present a challenge to coachbuilders wishing to produce a balanced truly professional-looking funeral car - especially ones incorporating commercial glass - I believe that I can be done. Now, the big question is does Accubuilt, Eagle or Federal have anyone up to the challenge to do this properly. There is no evidence of this based on their recent ultra-horrid Lincoln-based offerings. I hope they don't once again employ the renown design team of Keller & Wonder. Let's all keep our fingers crossed but, don't hold your breath.

While I am aware of Krystal's conversions, it is my understanding that Chrysler does not offer any heavy duty enhancements to the 300. It is my further understanding that converting a 300 voids the manufacturer's warranty. If I am wrong in this snippet of information, my apologies in advance.

Looks like a Prius with more chromed plastic accents. I remember when you could look down the road and at a mile away by the ride and distinct style of the car coming towards, you knew what the car was. Now I have to find my glasses and look for a name tag. So SAD:biker:

The conversion isn't covered under the warranty. The conversion doesn't necessarily void the warranty. See pages 14 and 15 in this warranty coverage pdf.

heard from a dealer that the soonest the coachbuilders will have access to this chassis is August 2012... and then obviously the design begins...

Kinda looks like a Lincoln MKS in the rear half when I squint my eyes at that picture...lest we all forget what was said when the 59s rolled off the production line!

It looks like a VW Jetta.
What's so bad about that?

(My new Jetta, from an earlier post.)
