Great car, congratulations! I hope you get yours on the road quicker than I did mine.

Is this the "happy dance" that one does when they acquire a new vehicle and give it its first bath???? :D

It's called brother tripping over hose while washing car.

This car rode and handled like a dream for the 140 mile trip home! :) Running on the other hand left something to be desired, lol. :p I insisted on driving this one home because it is such a pain to load these cars onto the trailer that I borrow from a friend of mine everytime we have picked one up and the car just had a ton of new parts and work done to it before being parked, so I was confident that we could drive this one home. The car idled great and once up to speed was ok, but trying to accelerate really ****ed it off! We got her home ok though and it was a good run to check everything out on it. The newly rebuilt trans shifted great, the new brakes worked great, the steering is tight, it didn't overheat, no weird noises and it held the road great, I was pleasantly suprised at how well the car did except for the sputering/cutting out on acceleration. :) I spent this weekend under the car working on it for my brother and figured the problem out. I started diagnosing things and discovered we were losing power to the ignition coil and that's why the car was running so poorly when trying to accelerate. I found many splices in multiple wires and serveral burned and bare wires down near the starter. Some of these wires were running to the coil, the alternator and other places in the engine compartment. With all the wiring repaired, the car is running like a dream and accelerates great now.

Wow, what a find! And being functional enough to drive home after 6 years of sitting is pretty incredible. Sounds like you have an enjoyable car you can fix up while you drive and enjoy it.

I had the same ignition coil problem on a '64 Caddy, I gave the carburetor hell before I noticed oil leaking from the coil. Hope you two have many happy miles together, and keep updates and pics coming!
