1960 Rescuer project - CA

Yeah..........I have seen this one......not sure about a "rare barn find" but owner is smoking a bit to much 420 at that price

It has been around for a few years......used to be $1500.00.....if I remember correctly.....

Its not bad..until you get close(er)...Steve is right it does have a few goodies though....

Must everybody dog everything on this site? This is a rare car. It has survived 56 years! If it can't find a home with the PCS than with whom? Some one who will put in a chevy drive train and paint it flat black or turn it into ? $1500 or $2500 does it really matter? I've seen a lot worse restored and when they were done they didn't have anything nearly as cool!

Dogging ?

Larry,

First off I am not "dogging" anything, merely stating my opinion on the car.

RARE does not always equate to VALUABLE......The value will be between what the seller asks and the buyer pays.

If you care to save it then STEP UP !!!

I sold a '56 Superior Super Rescuer, which was far rougher than this '60 Superior, on eBay for $5500. I would say that the seller is very realistic in his expectations, if this truely is a no-reserve auction. The body looks very weathered, but very solid with the exception of the driver's compartment floors. Unfortunatley, it will probably end up going overseas as most of these big, worthwhile projects seem to. At least they will make the investment in restoring it.

This is a massive undertaking but there are some great bumpers and usable parts to keep other '60s rolling.

The rust and rot would make this a super expensive restoration but there are few '60s out there.

There are likely a few thousand in parts on this one.

Darren,
This is not a parts car and it would be a major shame to see it parted out. I see very little rust on the exterior body panels. Actually looks amazingly solid and straight. The driver's compartment floors are pretty typical, for any coach that had rubber flooring if it spent much time outside.

I am with Kurt body is not the issue its a California car floor rot is no biggie rest sure looks solid. Biggest bullet to bite is the interior also California burned up by the sun. Also easy to add AC on a 60 if you have a parts car. I hope someone steps up to the plate and brings it back.

the only difference in this car and the black and white MM is no shiny paint and unknown running condition. both of them need painted. both need the plating work done. we never say a pictures of the drivers compartment of the the combo this one you can see the interior needs done so some were between 5 and 10 there. all the patterns are there. this one has some damaged moldings.
and glass. it's a lot bigger then the combo so more to paint.

but as it 10,000 less you have that much more money to work with the combo wold be a little easier to as it a lot less car but all in all to move either car to a senor class car it would take close to the same dollar amount.

the difference is you can drive the combo home maybe. this one you have to haul. the combo you can play with now, this one is works starts now.
it all depends on if you want one or not. completed these superiors are a sharp car. but you got to have to want to do one.

this seller is realistic on the money. but you will never get back out of either car what you will need to but into them to have a show car out of them.

There is one huge difference in those 2 cars, Ed.......... the value of those 2 cars when completed! The '60 ambulance would be worth several times more than that '72 combo when completed. You need to compare apples to apples.

pro car to pro car, apples to apples worth more to whom ? neither are appealing to me at this time in my life. I can't get out of the 60 with out banging my knee on the windshield dog leg. I have had at least 3 of the combos in that set of years with one more just out of the DR. shop now. as for value I have never found any of these cars to be anything but a money pit.

the 60 is worth a little more when done because you will get 10 grand more into doing it. mainly due to the difference in the chrome plating. so you have to ask more or loose more on it when you sell.

but as for value there is no value in any of them. some just cost more to do then others. I could be rebuilding them fast and furious if there was any value in doing so.

if one wants to deal in value start playing with chevys. if this as a 60 Impala in this shape it would be going for around 10. in the shape the 72 is in around 25.

the point was both of these cars are going to take the same kind of repair to bring them up to show quality cars.
so in my eye the 60 is a better value as you can get it way cheaper.

I see that it sold for $3450. I would say that someone got a decent deal on a very deserving project!
