1940 LaSalle Commercial Chassis - Factory Fresh

Three 1940 LaSalle Commercial Chassis loaded and ready to be shipped. GM sold 1,030 of the 159-inch wheelbase LaSalle Series 50 Commercial Chassis that year.
The image is not dated or sourced, one of those random Web finds when I was looking for something else about 3 years ago. It's the lone photo I'd ever seen of commercial chassis in a ready-to-ship state.

I remember Doris McMillian who worked at Miller-Meteor talking about the chassis being driven down to Piqua Ohio in the middle of the winter, and the drivers would have icicles hanging from their beards, and she said that was in the early 1950's.

Thanks Daniel and Dave for posting those '73 and '72 commercial car images. It's pretty amazing that the same procedure was used to prep the chassis for shipping - the '73 image even shows the rear bumpers postioned the same as in the 1940 photo. I wonder what the factory SOP checklist looked like.
