For sale is a 1940 Buick Series 40 Ambulance built by the Flexible Company of Loudonville, Ohio. Flxible built only 291 of these.
This is one of less than 10 documented surviving 1940 Flxibles on a Buick Chassis known in existence today.
It has undergone a full mechanical rebuild and is idling, driving and stopping beautifully. Car starts right up with the push the button.
-Full engine rebuild of the 365ci Fireball engine.
-3 on the tree manual transmission rebuilt, along with new clutch and throw out bearing.
-Carburetor rebuilt with Daytona kit rated for modern fuel.
-All new fuel lines and pump.
-New brake lines, hoses, rebuilt master cylinder and wheel cylinders.
-Added external oil filter.
-Brand new factory correct YNZ wire harness.
-High torque starter.
-90 amp Power Master generator.
-Converted to 12V. All light bulbs are soft white LED which look original but draw almost no power.
-Features drivers side mounted spare tire and cover, suicide doors, rear cabinets and floor compartment for storage.
-Firewall and under seat heaters are present but not connected.
-Emergency lighting consists of a pillar mounted Unity spotlight with red lens, a Federal siren with forward facing red lens, 2 forward facing red lenses above the cab, and a rear facing oval lens.
-Vehicle includes period correct gurney with pad, a complete Emerson resuscitator kit, 2 period correct folding stretchers, an oxygen tank with case, flashlight, first aid kit and fire extinguisher, all period correct for the era of the vehicle.

-Vehicle has 3 cracked door windows(flat glass)
-Sale also includes a spare steering column, spare rebuilt transmission and Premium Ultra weave car cover from California Car Cover.

This coach has been a valley girl all her life. Delivered in 1940 to the San Fernando Valley at Harvey Tyrell Buick dealership in Van Nuys, California. It has exchanged owners a handful of times but keeping ownership withing a 20 mile radius. It has been driven up and down the coast, and attended several California Professional Car events and is quite reliable.
