Checker Anyone?

Place a bid, and if you win, I am certain he will contact you to arrange to get the money, and give you your new car. :Dmarithon1.jpgmarithon2.jpgmarithon3.jpg

I'm sure he'll contact you if you place an $8,000 bid! At which time you can point out his emails are bouncing, and before you place a more reasonable bid, you first have some questions that need resolved. :p

Only problem is I do not want to pay $8K.

There in lies the problem. The seller sets the opening bid for the item, and there is no negotiating the opening price. The auction will have to run its course, and when there are no bids, it will get relisted with a lower opening bid. This is the business model that eBay has chosen, and we don't have any say in how they run their business. Possibly, it might also be listed on Craigslist? Have you looked???

Our opinions don't matter, the rules are the rules. No, actually I have not looked on craigslist. I think a Checker wagon would be fun to own, but then again, I like Checkers and I like wagons.

Very simple use contact seller tab convey your interest ask if open to offer. This would make up into a great wagon/ambulance. I have done this and bought many things on ebay. Just bought a Crosley radio last week by this method again starting price too high.

Dear Bill Marcy,

Did you know that there was a "fad" of using the Checker Marathons for police cars around the end of the 70's - early 80's? A few chiefs around Boston bought some - being told they will last forever. They didn't. They may have been good for taxi use, but didn't hold up as a cruiser. My chief in NH looked at one with the selectmen and went for a ride. The front seat did not move so hopefully we could fit behind the wheel. The back seat area was huge. In an effort to save money, the chief ordered a 6 cyl. instead of 8, which he test drove. Aside from the public reaction (pointing and laughing), this car couldn't get to 60 mph in a minute. It went through a few rear-ends and the town finally put it away and sold it to a cab company later. If you want to do any research, I think the cities that bought them were Revere and Lawrence, MA.

I used the Contact Seller method twice, both were returned as Undeliverable to my email.

Chicago PD had some odd police cars early 1960’s, including a few Checkers, Falcons and Valiants. I don’t think any Corvairs tho. We went to blue Mars lights from red too.

Does anyone here know how I could reach the seller? I attempted Contact Seller for the third time through ebay, but once again it bounced. I am sure that I should see this as a sign and just forget the car, but I guess I am a little possessed by it.

Doing a little checking the seller has zero feedback understandable as he has only been an ebay member since 10/20/20. He has sold nothing else and has nothing else for sale at this time It could be he is clueless on navigating ebay suggest you try a direct email through ebay (Contact Member) and see if you score. California tag on car is RFS 197 perhaps a member in California knows a cop who could get a lookup on the tag with name and address of owner.

Kevin, the Newark Fire Department in NJ used Marathon wagons for fire chief cars!
