I am wondering if anyone out there knows if there is a place that restores/re-does the walnut veneer inserts in the door panels of my '68 Fleetwood. The rear panels are fine, just the front ones that need attention. I have found sheets of walnut veneer on the internet, but have no idea how to get the old ones off, as they are bonded to a steel sheet. Also, if I would get them off, what is the best way to attach the new ones? Here are some pics of what I am talking about. As you can see, the rest of the door panel looks great, just the wood part that is a mess. The varnish/shellac or whatever they used is peeling off in sheets and the wood looks almost rotten underneath. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Pics below......the veneer is quarter-sawn walnut and about 1/42 or .025 inch thick...can't really be sanded, it's too thin.
