It was a very long ride home, and the car performed well... Still haven't added up all the gas slips or mileage.. Still recovering from the drive...

Im curious

When you guys drive these neat "old school" ambulances long distances and stop for meals, gas and rest breaks, what kind of reaction do you all get from the general public? Its got to be way different from what us hearse owners get. BTW Paul, very cool car! Im glad it found a great new home.

Blood Lines?

Paul: VERY-VERY NICE! What are the "blood lines" on this one... where was it first in service, etc? (*) The Civil Defense Decal looks a little "custom" with some additional wording... is it.... possibility of a close-up? THX-MM

Mike, this is the best I could do. It is interesting. Ask Paul about it.

Congratulations on the new arrival Paul!

I had wondered what would become of her after Lloyd's passing, so I'm happy to see she's gone to a good home :thumb:

Very nice Paul, wishing you the best of luck, and can't wait to see it. I like the Chevrolet Ambulances, the Fire Dept. I work for had a 1965 Chevrolet National, I have posted the images here before.

Great Car!

NICE!

Thanks for the pictures! I hope it'll be in Albany!

Onward and Upward!

I will try to answer all the questions in one post... :blahblah:

I usually part close to the building and try not to spend much time inside, so I know the car will be there when I return. Usually lot of comments as to "what year is it", or "cool ride". I didn't get one ghost-buster comment on the whole trip. The most common question is "is that a real ambulance?"...

I have no idea of where it originated, however, today while looking at the old registrations, I did find the previous owners name. A call to the post office, and I found a relative, who gave me his telephone number in another city. Still haven't made contact with him though.

See above...

Looks strange having someone else behind the wheel instead of Lloyd.

Are you saying that I am "strange"???? LOL:batterUp:
Congrats, paul,on a great old school find. what coachbuilder is it.:specool::applause:

Ran into the first stumbling block this afternoon. I noticed a squeak in the front suspension today, and upon closer examination, I realized that the rubber part of the upper control arm bushing had fallen out, and it was metal on metal contact. I got the bushings and hope to have them installed by this Friday, depending on work load. If nothing else fails, I will have it in Albany. I need to charge the air conditioner also, and make some adjustments to the cables that operate the heater/air conditioner.

poles r 4 dancers

Paul,
Poles are for dancers, not for adding to your pictures. Did you not see that street sign pole when you were framing the picture of the new coach?

I was driving away from Jerry's home... He took the pictures... Still haven't had time to clean it for my own pictures...

Man, I'd love to have that! I was wondering what would become of it. I'm a big fan of the 62 Belair. Please give me a ring when Sandy inevitably threatens to kick you out of the house.
