Buick Clamshell coach

Don't see these very often anymore

William, Thanks for posting this. No, you don't see many of these any more bit, quite frankly, you didn't see all that many back in 1976 either. Armbruster only built 36 of these for Superior that year and it's a pretty safe bet that not all that many were "top-of-the-line" Precision Crown models like this one. I'd have to say that this is collectable and hope someone in the PCS snaps it us and preserves this one.

I just learned of one in a salvage yard that has under 70,000 miles on it, with a light hit in the front end. They want $1500 for it, and I have no interest in it. If it isn't sold shortly, I was told that it will become scrap metal.

She's all there, but from the looks of the interior it's gotten wet at some point-looks like algae/mildew. The holes in the top of the rear quarters are also frightening but she's still salvageable.

you should pass the info to Dana Bennett. He loves these cars and might save it. Where is it located? I know Dana is un upstate NY

It is in a yard that crushes cars for steel in RI. You would have to have a "nose" to put on the car, and I have no other details, so I don't know the extent of the damage, other than it was described as a light hit. I will check for more information..

I was very interested in this coach 10 years ago and got outbid in the last seconds of the auction!! i had figured it would make more sence and be less expensive to buy this coach that to restore the one I have. The photo's back then made the car look in great shape at the time.

Paul, if you would be able to find out and pass along any information to me about the one you have mentioned I would be grateful!!! While (unfortunately) I would not be able to buy anything due to honestly just not having any available money I could possibly pass it along to a couple different people I know who might find it interesting and be able to puchase. and of course i would love to add any photo's to my '76 Superior Buick hearse album I have on facebook!!!! Thanks!!

hey Paul, Just going thru the forums searching for something and saw this again. I never heard from you about it. Did you ever learn ANYTHING more about the hearse you mentioned??
Thanks,
Dana.
