final after wearing out 4 different people the 5th came threw for me. I have been trying to get a set of taillight housings made or re done for this 53 sedan delivery for about 6 years now. I had two people say they could cast one, no luck there. two that said they could cut one out of aluminum block, but never could get around to doing it. I even checked into the 3 d printer things. they wanted a grand to map the part out and a buck to make one. out of plastic but not silver. I finely got a man that would try to re plate it I sent him three and he picked the best two to re do. they came in today. the upper piece is the rubber. it's vary thin hollow casting. and if you remember 53 was in the middle of the Korean conflict. they were saving copper for the war effort. so this was first done with a thin layer of nickle over the die cast then chromed. it did not hold up will. but final I have my set of taillights. and yes I brought a 71 superior end loader for less then we have in one of them. sometimes you just got to bite the big one and do it.

These were done in neb.he did not think they would come out but I asked him to give it try. We are lucky they did not melt in the tank but it's the original unit re plated

Thanks for sharing Ed.

i have mine off of my '53 and tucked away in a safe place until it's time to put them back on.

I should end up with a couple of spares so we will share when I get all my stuff I have scattered around back. Some were in Neb I still have a set of reflectors one lens and a base plate. Then in Illinois I have still the top half of the bezel that got broken and a bottom half that was cast. I was hoping that one of the billet people would get the program wrote up and we could produce them. But not worth trying to work with people in a remote location to get that done. It seams like the squeaking wheel is the only one that gets greased today. The send me the stuff and I can do it for you only goes that far.

so has anyone seen what a thousand dollar pair of taillights look like? a lot better then there 100 dollar state even cleaned up.
