Anyone having a spare 4001R SB that they would like to sell or know of a source for one please advise...
Thank you !!
Jim

GE inventory was depleted in the mid-nineties. They were available from Wagner (they upgraded theirs to a 5001 in 1996) and Phillips/Westinghouse until about 15 months ago. Now, it's whatever you can find.

Jim: sorry I have used mine, but I have bought several on ebay in last 18 months. I saw one as recently as the last 2 months. Good hunting!

Mike,
I DID check with Napa and O'reillys......both said they are NOT available in RED.........

Sorry about that.... the NAPA Store we have here in our small, mostly ag oriented town kind of spolis us I guess as they seem to be able to get nearly anything we ever need. I will check with them in the AM. I wasn't aware of the demise of the companies and inventory "K-O" alluded too.

(*) We do have (3) stoplights now though... only had one for decades! MM

WOW...congrats on the stoplights.....I am sure everyone sits around the local barbershop and "Complains " about the traffic jams and constant flurry of traffic now.....well I guess they can still go to the "malt" shop and get a vanilla coke....:yum:

Such is life in a small town !! not knocking it...just dreaming......
Thank you for your help !!!
Jim

If you are using these in lights that are not headlamps, then you can use the 3 prong bulbs that I have.. You just don't plug in the 3rd prong. Let me know.. I have about a half dozen left.. I think that I paid about $15 each, and you can have a few for that price plus shipping.. Thanks Paul
PS.. I can remove the 3rd prong if you want before shipping..

Now my suppler is only selling coated bulbs which really dont hold up that well, after awhile the red transparent paint starts coming off. so the few I have I sprayed a coat of clear laquer on them not really the true red glass but it will do in a pinch

Jim: You should probably grab up what you need from what Paul has generously offered. I recall the new ones we did buy a year or so ago were considerably more than that. BTW... we do have (1) part-time barber shop! Good Luck! MM

Paul,
Your 3-prong bulbs would be 4001Rs or comparable hi-beam headlight bulbs. Are yours NOS, or used?

I dont know if they are still available through John Dorgans son, thats where i got mine, but it has been many years ago. I agree, if you need them first contact Paul, as I know I spent more than that for mine.

The bulbs that I have are dual filament bulbs, and as such, are both low & high beam bulbs that fit the outer headlamp buckets. The trick that I used to mount these on my Chevrolet was to use one right and one left high / low beam bucket, and use the right on the left side, and the right one on the left. That way, they fit perfectly, without any modification to the car, or the bulbs. I purchased new connectors for the bulbs at the auto parts store $3.50 each, and just disconnected the original high beam terminal end, and left it hanging in place. I used the new terminal ends to make up a new wire harness for the bulbs. Now, I can choose to have either high or low beam flashing just by the way that I hook it to the flasher unit.. You could even wire it for both filaments to flash together for the brightest flash.
