I wouldn't call it a permanent solution, but it does work. In my experience, you need about ten times as many clothespins as that. Then again, I might have had a particularly bad case of vapor lock.
the close pins were supposed to hold the tin foil warped around on the line. but I have seen a number of tricks designed to stop the problem of the change over from winter gas to summer gas. the best cure was when they put the return line in so that anything not used by the carburetor was returned to the tank thus keeping the fuel flowing. they tell me you could put them other places then your ears also but I never did that either. I did learn that stealing them off the line would create more problems then vapor lock.
