What kind of model is this

A friend of mine sent me from his collection this picture of a hearse, picture taken in 1978. The car seems to be a 1971... but look at the line of that Superior?? curved top, corner glass on the rear, slanted doors, it looks like a 65-70 to me ... a late model modified by Superior? a home made modification with an older coach? an unknown 1971 option?



There is a Quebec city funeral home who took a 1968 Superior hearse and fixed a 1974 Fleetwood front to make it look "newer" in '74... might be that kind of modification?
 
Good eye there, Martin. I'd bet you're 100% correct on this. The body appears to be vintage 1965-1970 while the rear quarters and front clip have been up-dated with 1971 components. There were a couple of firms that were actively doing this and this may well have been a product of such an "up-date".

68 was the first year for hidden wipers ,unless they reworked the whole cowl area I would bet it is a 68-70.
 
Here is a recent picture of the other "1974 Superior" I received by email. Saw the car in the bushes in 2009 so no clear picture. I remember the rear of the car was 60's and not updated.

 
Terry Lange photographed a '66 M-M in Canada that had been updated with '77 rear fenders and front clip; perhaps he'll post it here.
