what kind of hearse?

In the Vampire series True Blood what kind of hearse is in the graveyard scene in episode 6? The series on cd is not as graphic as the series on dvd. But they did have a hearse to see. It has flat horizontal window frames on the doors. It looks to have a blind panel between the rear side doors and the quarter panel window. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

It looks to me like this very rare 85 Superior FWD limo style. I looked at the DVD very close and I always come back to this one.

Those were built by Superior for Forest Lawn. They came drapeless for keeping with Forest Lawn's tradition. They only use dark blue limo style coaches.

that's it!

John and Pat,
that is the hearse in the series of True Blood. Thanks for the info. Now we can sleep tonight. I don't recall ever seeing one of these Superiors.

That is because as Pat said they were custom made for Forest Lawn. As far as I ever found out is that only one, maybe two were made.

Annnnnnnnd now you can add another John.

I rather enjoy upping peoples counts of whatever coach. :D

you mix apples and oranges and you get a V8. John was talking about FWDs.
they were like Broadmoor's same style different years by the same owners over a long stretch of time. the camper windows never looked good to me.

Yeah I found a 3/4 shot of one of their Lincoln Federal Diplomats. I threw up a little. I'll see if I can put a picture up.

The 78 I have was sold new in Nevada and was there until last month. :3some: How many Limo style 3-ways from 77-84? Was 84 the last year for Superior 3-ways?

Correct. they are also running a current fleet of dk blue limousine style Cadillac Krystal coaches in same fashion 2000-2005 body style. Doug Scott has a 1999 ex-Forest Lawn car for sale on his website. funeral cars.com Krystal seems to have their contract for several years now.

That Lincoln is awful looking! How did anyone think that looked okay? Looks like a Lincoln Town Car had an accident with a truck camper.

That is one thing that I like about this forum. When one person puts up a pic and asks about that particular style of hearse, everybody else puts up pics of every model with that exact same config, newer and older and different chassis makes. Really educational and eye-opening to see what has been put out there over time. :thankyou2:

Pat, you hit that one one the nail head. :D

Attila, please tell me that someone rescued that old blue one that you put up.

Spoke with owner who supplied the following:

'82 or '83 endloader, he's misplaced title. Came straight from a NC funeral home. After pursuing it for years, was told by FD that he may purchase when pulled from active duty - which he did. By the time it was retired from service roof was already rusty under vinyl top. Superior's craftsmanship in this year range was shotty; multiple areas of rust underneath filler where metal was never prepped properly. It ran great and was driven to spot where parked.

He really isn't interested in selling given oddity but said if someone gave what he paid ($1500) that he would go get a duplicate title and pass it on.

Only have the one pic as it didn't pique further interest, sorry. :hide:

Dont know how many limo style Superiors were built from 77-84 but I have seen quite a few in straight endloader and combo form, I dont think many were made as 3 ways. Yes, 84 was the last year Superior built 3 ways. Everyone else stopped making them long before that. Not counting the few that were made by Collins/M-M in 91.

Here are a couple photos that I shot at Doug Scott Professional Cars in Burbank California in 2009 of an ex-Forrest Lawn 1997-99 Federal Cadillac endloader.

Also its typical for Doug Scott to fill in the qtr windows, replace the top and put landau bars on a Forrest Lawn car for re-sell.

Not the best shots of a pro-car I've ever shot but here they are.
