What do they do with the roof vent?

All of the Superior ambulances come standard with a roof vent. I see a number of 1975 and 1976 54s and 54XLs with a roof box.

I am curious as to what they did with the roof vent. Was it deleted, was the ventilation move somewhere else?

That was my original thought, but most if not all of the Superiors I looked at with the roof boxes do not have the rear door vents like the MMs.

I will not be installing a roof box on my car, just wondering.
