Weekend show in Vancouver BC

PCS Member/Super Site Supporter/Paramedic Supervis
Went to a 2 day show and car auction in Vancouver BC this past weekend. It was an open show however we were invited for the "service" side of vehicles.

4 ambulances and 2 fire trucks showed. My '73 Lifeliner, Doug House and his '68 Pontiac/Superior, Steve Williams and his '57 Chev/National and a BC Ambulance Paramedics Union owned '53 Chev delivery that served as the industrial ambulance at the Ioco Refinery in Port Moody in the 50's and '60s.

Fire trucks included a 1984 Ford/Thibault pump ex-DND and a '46 Ford/General Fire Apparatus bumper pumper.

The '66 Cadillac Limo was not with our group. The '60 Eureka hearse belongs to a movie car rental company.

Rained off and on the second day but a good turnout of over 600 vehicles for the show and 200 for the auction.

It looks like there were some neat cars there. I wish I would have known about the meet. I was in Vancouver for the weekend and could have stopped by.

Here's the rest of the pictures from the PNE show.

Sarah...what a shame I didn't know you were headed out this way. We could have met up at the show and went for supper!.

The show was advertised heavily in the local media. Don't you always do a web search for shows before you travel ;-) ?

??s about that 53

Bill,
The 1953 Chevy ambulance has me wondering. My first car was a 1953 Chevy. Mine had round parking/signal lamps in the grille. The grille bar had only 3 'teeth' vertical on the cross bar.
1951 parking/signal lamps, 5 'teeth' on the grille cross bar is a 1954 item here on the south side of the border. So is this a Canadian built Chevy? I know Buicks were a bit different and so were some Fords.
Thanks for sharing the pictures. Those are some great ones.
Mike

Hi Mike. I corrected my post about the little Chev. It's a '52.

I'm guessing it's Canadian built but I can't confirm that. I'll get some more information about it from it's current caretaker.

It's company built unit as well.

I'm not one to announce where I am or where I'm going to be, so no worries. I was in Vancouver for such a short amount of time that I didn't think to check and see what events were happening.

Thanks for sharing the photos. They are great. It is nice to see the Chevrolets represented and, Yes, that is a 1952 Chevrolet. No big cosmetic differences between either side of the border that year.

Here are the other pics you asked for Darren.

This movie car hasn't been well looked after. The interior is pretty tired. A lot of rust through on both front floors. Rust through along both rockers. I didn't pop the hood so no telling what's going on in there.

The vehicle was flatbedded to/from the show.

Interior shots

Here are some interior shots.

The little Chev was company built. No attendant seat in the back. The folding backboard (home built) slides into a bracket on the left rear.

Some of the equipment carried in the National and Superior were from an EMS display last week so no comments about them not being period correct for the cars. I already razzed the owners about that enough.

Sorry..guess it helps if I attach the photos.

you got to love it when a man first gets his ambulance. you try to cram in everything you are use to seeing today. you forget how far along pre hospital care has come from the days of back presser arm lift resuscitation.
