Watching Irene

All of us on the east cost have been watching Irene for the past few days, with lots of anxiety and concern. She is scheduled to visit NJ and NY and north during the overnight. We are starting to experience heavy rain, the winds are kicking upward and on top of all of this, we now have a tornado watch posted! This is scarey stuff!

I am praying that everyone will be safe from harm over the next day, or so. And to all of our police, fire and EMS workers, a special thank you and a special prayer for you.

I sure hope we will all be here to talk about this storm tomorrow, when it is in the history books. Be safe everybody!

It seems that the worst is over in our area. There is flooding in some areas and that will get worse before it gets better. But we are sitting high and dry, we are very lucky! I hope the same is true for everybody else here.

We have been experiencing heavy rain and significant winds all day here at home in rural upstate NY. Luckily, we are at a high enough elevation to avoid widespead flooding. Over the past hour or so, the intensity of the storm has increased and the power is now out. With the flip of a series of switches, we are running on generator power. We are hoping the best for all others who find themselves in the path of the storm. Be well and be safe!
