Vintage limousine wanted in Eastern Ohio

I received a call the other day from someone looking to rent a vintage limousine for an upcoming wedding somewhere Canfield Ohio. I was at work at the time and she didn't leave much information other than that.

The message was...

Christina
814-464-3403
Lives in Canfield
Looking for old limo for wedding

I haven't gotten a date back from her yet.

Can anyone maybe help this lady out?

It would all depend on when the wedding was. Let me know when the wedding is.....and I will let you know if it is possible. The only reason I say that is that the motor is still currently ouf of my car. I do hope to have it all back together by the end of April at the latest.

Christina and I have been playing phone tag the past couple of days.

I finally have a date from her.
May 19, 2012

Sounds like a nice girl. Seemed excited the last message that she left. She is really glad that we (as a group) would even consider using our cars for a strangers wedding and sounded genuinely excited that she even got a lead on a limousine.

In the original message she just said "for a wedding" and this last message, she said "for my wedding". Originally I thought she was looking for a friend.

If you can help out Shawn great. If not, I have a couple of other people to e-mail or call and see if we can get her a limousine.

It's not a limo, but my '67 sedan DeVille may be available for the wedding...

I am still willing. Talked to the motor place the other day, it should be done very soon, so I should have time to get it back together and bugs worked out before May 19th. I really want to have it back together way before then!
I haven't tried to call the lady, but was wondering, are you sure that 814 is the area code? I ask because I have a friend who lives in Youngstown and the area code there is 330. Or, maybe she doesn't actually live in Ohio....either way, you don't happen to have an email address for her do you?

Maybe Dwayne and I can both help her out, one car for one group, one for the other.

I too was confused about the phone number. That is the one reason that I thought it was for someone other than her wedding. 814 is traditionally up around Meadville/Erie if I am correct. You are right, about the Youngstown and surrounding area being 330. Talking with a friend, they thought is was a cell phone area code.

When I called it, it went straight to her answering machine, so maybe she has it set to go straight to message when she is at work.

Unfortunately, that is the only contact that I have for her. I DO NOT have an e-mail.

I too thought about the pair of Cadillacs. Your limousine for the bride and groom and Dwayne's for the attendants. Something like that...

Would you like me to call her back and tell her that you should be able to accommodate her or would you like to call her? I have no problem getting a hold of her again if you would like me to. Maybe I will call her and let her know that it looks good and give her you e-mail. Sound good to you?

Thanks Shawn!

I guess since you have already talked to her, if you are willing, I will let you call her back. You are free to give her my email address, then I can email her pics of the car and she can see what she thinks after she sees it. I do want her to know that although very presentable, it is far from perfect on the outside. Of course, it will arrive clean and with a driver dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and a black tie (hope it's not too hot that day!). I will PM you and give you my email address. Thanks!

Yes, the 814 area code is generally from Erie to just above Butler. Because of that, I can understand your confusion as well.

Chauffeurs should wear black bow ties and a chauffeur's hat!!!

Update...

Shawn,
I talked with Christina tonight and passed along your contact information. I sent you a PM with her e-mail in it if it is easier to contact her that way.

Dwayne,
She sounded kinda interested in talking with you about maybe using your Sedan also. I can contact her with your number and e-mail if you like or you can contact her yourself. You have her number in the original post and I will PM you her e-mail.

Thanks!

Update....

After speaking with Christina and emailing her pics of the car, it looks like I am going to be doing a wedding in May. She is VERY excited. Thanks for getting all the info for me, Chuck. Without you, this wouldn't have been known to me. Thanks again!

Wedding Day!

I just got back home from doing the wedding. Super nice couple and they loved the car--they even had their photographer take a bunch of pictures with the car everywhere we went. They were really excited about it. Car ran great, now just to get that air conditioning fixed..... Here are some pics from the day--and even one of me :bonk:

that's what we want to see a man that can hold his own in any crowd!!! glad you could do this for them so who had more fun you or the couple in the back?

I don't know who had more fun, although I was amazed at the number of people who came up to me when I was sitting in the car at different places (waiting for the bride and groom), and said, "Excuse me, Driver....do you have a business card? What is your hourly rate? Is the car yours or are you just the driver?"

I think the best one of all though, was the guy who was driving a stretched Hummer limo. He said, "Now THAT is a limousine, very classy".

Back in 1988-1989, when I worked for a local limousine service, we were told that "anyone can drive a 'limo' but a chauffeur drives a limousine". A big difference between what is passed off as a limousine nowadays as compared to days gone by. Very well done, Shawn!

Wow Shawn, this is the epitome of class! I don't know what you mean when you say the car is far from perfect on the outside, it looks beautiful!

So glad that you were not only able to help them out, but looks like you really enjoyed yourself also! A class act for sure! I will give you a call the next time some random person asks me about needing a vintage limousine. Better get those business cards printed up!

Hey Shawn, would you mind if I shared some of these photos on another site with some car friends of mine?
