Upholstry Particle Board/Cork?????

Hello Yet Again,

I was wondering if someone could Help me, with just what exactly the material is, that is used for stapling the Upholstry and Headliner to, its almost like a Petrified Cork or some form of Particle Board Strips.
And where a Person could find some more, as the Strips on my '70 Pontiac Superior Ambulance are pretty Weathered and quite Brittle.

I'm working on stripping the car completely down, .....(I'd like to take it down to the bare Frame, but not sure how thats gunna work with a Very Heavy Stripped Shell) for one thing, then the Chore of trying to move it around while the Frame is off getting Powder Coated

But today I'm working on finishing taking out all the small little odds and ends from the Interior of the car, Before I take the Sander/Grinder to the Weathered and Rusty Areas,... and this stuff came to mind, so I figured I'd ask. As I have no Idea what it is or where I could find it or what I could even use to replace it for that matter.

Thanks for your Input

i would guess your referring to the nail on stripe that things are stapled to. I would check with a locale upholstery shop as to were you might get some. how was yous fastened on to the car. I have seen them glued nailed in place and fastened with screws.

The Strips on this car were Screwed in place, which is were they usually broke before ya fully removed the screw....

They are very Brittle and I would like to replace all the Strips with newer Material since I will be Installing a New Headliner

any place that does older cars or convertible tops can direct you to a source. the new cars use a plastic if I'm not mistaken. it would still be referred to as the nail on.
