TPC 144 1949 Flxible

As some of you have probably already read the wonderful article on the 1949 Flxible Buicks in the current edition, you already know it is very interesting and enjoyable, with many great pictures. However, it has left me somewhat nostalgic and with some regret. Back around 2002, we bought a beautiful 49 Flxible Buick ambulance from PCS member Bob Behr. Bob had owned the car for some thirty years and had driven it over thirty thousand miles, quite an accomplishment. My wife absolutely loved this car, she said it was her favorite. We owned it until about 2006, when we sold it to a gentleman from Williamsburg, Virginia named Thomas "Flip" Topke, who still owns it today. While reading the article on these magnificent professional cars, I realized what my wife already knew, these are beautiful cars! So now, I am thinking about the one that got away.

30,000 miles in 30 years, dont sound like much of an accomplishment, letting such a beauty just sit in the garage most of the time he owned it.
I hope you at least have some pics to remember the car by. I know how you feel though there are a few that I sold and regret it very much to this day, especally when I see a pic here of one like I had.

I certainly know what you're talking about, Bill. I owned a gorgeous blue 1965 M&M combination. It even had factory a/c, front & rear, which I even got working properly. I had a dollar amount in my mind at which, if seriious offer presented itself, I'd sell the car. Guess what? A man from near Valparaiso IN came and saw it, handed me the full amount in cash. I lost track of him and the car, but I do know he took an extended road trip with it.

So now, every time I see wonderful things written about M&M, I get nostalgic for this old '65. But I console myself with the fact that the car had the 429 engine in it, which I've never had much good luck with. Also, I have more cars than a normal person needs, so I suppose it's in better hands with someone else.
