Tony's M-M Monthly photo

The car of the month is a beautiful Criterion featured on the M-M monthly on-line publication.

What a beautifl car. What is that round thing on the roof where a siren would most likely be mounted?

Hope you don't think I'm stealing this Tony but I go bongers when I see a Criterion.

Cedar Knolls & Long Hill

Richard,
Thanks for posting that picture of the Cedar Knolls Criterion - a GREAT looking car.
FYI - Cedar Knolls (NJ) is only about 20 minutes away from Long Hill, where your car came from. Obviously, the squads "from Joisey" always had good taste (and deep pockets!)

I knew that had to be a NJ car. As I understand it, NJ required double ditch lights on rigs as well as a VHF scanner. My Criterion has the big whip antenna on it like this one but located in different spots.

Required double ditch lights?

I'd have to question the validity of that statement. My 1975 Lifelienr was custom-ordered by a New Jersey squad (Mendham Twp.) and does not have any side ditch lights. I've seen other examples as well that don't.

Question away Tony. I'm just passing along information given to me by Leo Maren when I purchased my Criterion from him.

Double Ditch Lights

I would concur with Tony. I have seen several ambulances that served in NJ (including mine) and some have 2 ditch lights on each side and some only have 1.

Another intersesting point, within a distance of about 20 miles there were at least 4 Criterions. 3 1974's and the 1975 from Cedar Knolls. The 1974's were Bernardsville, Millington and Chatham. :respect:
