Toledo, Ohio 2 firefighter LODD's

Reports are that 2 Toledo firefighters were fatally injured this afternoon while fighting a fire in a 2 story apartment/commercial complex near downtown. They were taken from the scene with CPR being performed. The Lucas County Coroners Office has confirmed the deaths. Identities are being witheld pending notification of families.

We will hold them, their families and the TFD in our thoughts and prayers.

Rest Easy Brothers, Rest Easy.

Just confirmed in a short news conference by Fire Chief Luis Santiago on WTVG 13 ABC. The men were a 16 year veteran, and a 6 month rookie, both assigned to Engine 3. More details when available.

It is always tragic news, when anyone is killed, while in service to others. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families.

This just came crashing home for us.....

Firefighters Stephen Machcinski and James Dickman were operating at a two story commercial building on fire at 528 Magnolia St., near Huron St., yesterday afternoon. They were on one of the first rigs to arrive on the scene and made entry to the upper floor to begin operations. Within 4 minutes of making entry, the roof fell in trapping them both. Both sustained fatal injuries.

Firefighter Machcinski was a 16 year veteran of the TFD, while Firefighter Dickman was a rookie with Toledo, having been appointed last September. Prior to that, he had served for 10 years with the Perkins Twp. Fire Department in Sandusky. He, and his wife have family all around this area.

An official statement from Toledo Fire regarding funeral arrangements will be forthcoming this afternoon.

May GOD hold these brave men and their families and Brothers in His loving hands, grant them eternal rest, and give comfort to those left behind.

Breaking news.......

We just returned from atttending the funeral for Firefighter Jamie Dickman. Upon our return we heard "Breaking News" all over the television.

The owner of the building, Ray Abou-Arab, was arrested this afternoon on 2 counts of Aggravated Arson and 2 counts of Aggravated Murder. The bastard lit the place up because he was having "money troubles"!!!

You can't believe how angry/hurt we all are right now!!!!!

The good side, if there can ever possibly be one is that you got to honor their memory and bid farewell to hero's.Had you known the arson side prior to the service I feel would have been totally upsetting, may they rest in peace and the accused if convicted rot in hell.My opinion.

When growing up in New York, we had a term for this type of arson but in this politically correct era, I cant use it in this forum. A number of years ago, a similar fire occurred here in Seattle resulting in I think 4 firefighters (maybe 6) being killed. That fire was set by the building owners son. Hes currently serving a life prison term. My heart goes out to the families and friends of those who died.

Not all of us are PC !!!!

how true but some of us have learned to grow up. ;)

a man want to torch his building had better learn now to have it fully engulfed in about 5 seconds. what a thing to trade a couple of lives for two dead and ope wasting away for the rest of his.
