to paint or not to paint

so today we get to stand around and watch paint wrinkle. so as I gather up the 10,000 pieces that need to go back on this 1966 superior. would someone that has one let me know if the spacers under the bars are painted or not? this set all most looks like they were black but then may be not. just dirty and stained. I can clean them up or paint them. just need to know what they were. any help would be :confused:help
 
Depends on what they were made of.. If a plastic or fiber, then I would paint them. If metal, they might have been plated or painted. Either way, no one will really know what the difference is unless you tell them. I am not telling, so whatever you do is OK with me... :weneedpics_smi:
 
there disks of aluminium that are rough but look like they may have been black. if I paint then they will give the bars the look of floating off the body. there about 1 inch thick. I was hoping some one had one and could say. I for one never paid that close attention. when I walked past one. but now that yI'm holding it in my hand I got to thinking. had to quit my head hurt.
