Ok PCS brothers and sisters- what do you recommend for pro car tires?

Kuhmo extra load 235-75-15 white wall. Have used several sets with no problems. About $125 each in our area. Rated at about 2050 I believe so that gets you just over 8k coverage.

That's what I use and very happy with them being on the ambulance since I purchased it in 2007. The only thing is it makes my speedometer read 5 miles fast.

Were running Alpha Dean 365 tires in the size of P235 75R15 white wall 4 Ply load range R max capacity of 2028 pounds per tire on three of our cars and its even what I'm running on the flower van at the funeral home as well. They were running less $400.00 per set when I bought the last set of them. All sets are still doing good and holding up well.

This tire is now discontinued.

Alph Dean?? I'm wondering if there made by cooper. pearliss tire has one 235 x 15 made by cooper in a white wall that gets is load rating just over 2000 lb at 32 psi. the problem I have with the extra load Kuhmos is the 50 psi to get the load rating. the 235 are like Richard stated a 29 inch in diameter tire, the car came with 31 inch in diameter tires. you will need to get a tooth lower gear in the tranny to get the speedometer to read correctly.

Yes, the Alpha Deans are made by Cooper Tire.

That's what seems to be available in the Carolinas, too. I have a set on my '75 and so far, so good. They were under 400.00 installed. There's been an overall increase in max psi for tires in the last couple of years. Extra load tires used to be 40 max, but now regular load tires are often 44max and XLs 50 as someone mentioned above. I've tried different pressures but have run 40psi all around on my pro cars for years with good results. For a heavy Lifeliner you definitely want tires w/ a good load rating. I found some whitewall 255/70R15s for my '72 years ago and managed to find a replacement set a while back, but this size is no longer made in a whitewall. The load rating is very close to that of a 235XL (the 255 is a standard load tire and I run 35psi) and the wider tread makes for a nice ride! You could easily find this size in a BW or RWL, but you'd have to find someone to cut a whitewall for you. These tires didn't change my already 5mph fast speedo and 7% fast odo readings, which is interesting since the car had LR78-15 light truck tires on it when I bought it.

the J-78x15 are a 29 inch diameter tires same as the 235x15. they were a lot wider then the old 890s. the big olds and caddys started using them in either 74 or 5. as coopers are made in the denver proper I would guess east and west they may be hard to find.

I've been running the Kuhmo's for about three years now on my 72 CB Olds 48' ambulance very happy with their performance.

I have searched for a 235x75x15 white side wall tire since this thread was started last week, and I have yet to come up with one manufacturer that still makes them. Two years ago, when I put the Kelly Springfield Navigator Gold extra load tires on my 1969 Miller Meteor Cadillac, I got the last 5 that were available, according to the customer service people at Kelly Springfield. I asked if they would be making more, and was told that the demand for that size tire was diminishing rapidly. At some point, I don't think that we will be able to find a reasonably priced tire for our collector cars, and will be left paying $300 a tire just to get them.

There are PLENTY available in that SIZE, just none that are white wall. Victims of fashion!

I had the Amaircan Classics with a 1.5 inch whitewall on my 67 M-M Combo. They are a little pricier, but I was very happy with them. They would look really good on a Lifeliner too.

but were did you get them. this is the trouble people are having. different regions have declined to stock tires they don't sell much of. I can get the one at peerless tire, which are a cooper built at there store in Rapid for 89 bucks carry out. but I would bet right now that they don't have 4 of them between there two outlets in Rapid.

Discount Tires

Discount Tire store in Saginaw, MI is where we purchased our Arizonians. The Discount Tire chain has several locations. Sorry for not mentioning it in the previous post.
