I was looking for Kelly Navigator Gold extra load tires....Kelly store near me says they're long out of production. Anyone have any other suggestions for a Lifeliner???? Thanks!

Last summer, I bought a set of Toyo white wall radials for my Lifeliner. They are extra load, but they are not the wide white walls. I can get you the name of the specific tire if you like.

I bought a set of Hankook tires for the 72 Superior 54 last June......P235/75/R15 XL H724.......Whitewalls.....got a pretty good price of $91.00 per tire ..they came from recommendations from others here on the board....
Have taken them on several road trips with no issues...and they are the 3/4"WW...

info

Jim- I looked on line and called them. The XL H724 white side wall had another number of 108S W. He said that this tire wouldn't hold a a 7,000 pound car. Do you have any other codes or info on the tire? He said the S meant speed rating. Thanks

Tire shopping

Kevin, last summer we bought tires and did the shopping as well. What I experienced. Hancook tires although good load ratings had only a very thin whitewall offering. I can not say for certain as it was months ago, but it was under 1 inch and likely thinner just did not look right. The tire dismounted in my hand, felt like the sidewall was very soft, Suspiciously so. You could push it side to side with your finger easily. Then second choice for the money we were willing to spend were the "American Classic's" with the 1.5 inch whitewall. We bought those per reccomendations in the forum. Price was right and service great and great warranty which I used right away. Delivered the tires to the auto service and once installed and washed, we discovered whitewall flaws. Once washed, tiny black specs were on the sidewall and if you wipe across them the black spec would drag across the rest of the whitewall. What was going on I seen with a magnifying glass, was the whitewall scyved through to the black. They start out with the entire sidewall white on these tires apparently and if you want a 1.5 or a three depends on how much whitewall is removed. Second tire to replace the flawed one had a different issue. The whitewall was trimmed properly on the outside of the whitewall but the inside had a long string of white rubber that had not been completely trimmed off. By this time I was to disappointed to return another tire and ended up surgically, trimming off the long defect off my self and stuffed it behind the seat for a spare. Kurt Arends bought them also same time as I and evidentally he had a good experience. In fairness to the tire maker.
