Glad I checked this nylon gear and loose as hell. probably would not have survived the planned long trip. Have a nice roller chain coming or it. This is a 64 BUICK 401, but Buick used a similar design on their other engines for the water pumps. The 1/4 bolts are notorious for breaking. If you soak them with penetrating fluid and work them easy, they usually come out.

What would be more impressive is someone driving 3000 miles across the country in a 60-year-old car that hadn't thoroughly checked out all the mechanical systems and expected to arrive at their destination without any breakdowns that could have been avoided if they had just properly serviced the car before they left.
