There's a Storm a Brewin!

For those of you that haven't ben keeping up with the news and weather, there is a big storm front expected to move through Tennessee and Kentucky this afternoon. They have rased our risk from a moderate to a high risk of tornados. They are saying if we do get tornados, they will be large and probly stay on the ground for a long time. I was told this morning that the Texas Storm Chasers are in Nashville today. Just wanted to ask the PCS family to keep the Volunteer Chapter and anyone else who may be in the path of this storm in your thoughts and prayers this afternoon. Its suppose to be around 80 today, whitch is not good at all for the first of March. Its sunny and in the low to mid 70s right now. They have closed many schools, and a lot of buisnesses are also closing erly and letting people go home. We just had a grave side service today with a small family, so my boss said just stay home. I talked to Jeremy about 30 minutes ago, and he said that LeeAnn's work is also letting them go home at noon. Hopefully everything and everyone will be ok. I will also be keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers.

Why?

The question that comes to mind after reading this is WHY? WHY would anyone want to live in a place like this? Tornados?? no thanks, I can take the heat in the summer and the beautiful weather in winter.

I survived Wednesday's wrath in Harrisburg. Both my home and funeral home escaped damage but I helped retrieve all 6 of the victims and used my funeral home as a staging area. My prayers are with you because I saw first hand what mother nature can dish out. Believe me, we can't take it! Presently we are under a tornado watch here again and my funeral home is full of neighbors and family because we have a basement. We are all scared since Wednesday morning. In my 42 years in funeral service the last 2 days have been totally undescribable. I have a funeral Sunday for one of the victims. My prayers to all who are in the path of a storm.

Thanks Mike, glad you guys are ok. My bosses pairents owne a couple Funeral Homes just across the river in IL, and Said they got lucky the other day and didn't get hit to bad. I'm not sure what town they are in, but they are not very far from you. Hang in there and be safe, looks like its going to be another rough one.

Weather keeps getting stranger. We had t storms the other day, its snowing today, supposed to get 2 inches, then its supposed to get nice again tomorrow. They were talking about the sever weather is about 2 months early. That cannot be a good sign.

why live here

Why live here? We call the weather changing seasons. Our families are here. We know our neighbors. Drive in any direction and you can see hills, trees, rivers, lakes, flat land and urban sprawl. It is all here. Something for everyone.

There's a Storm A Brewin

I was watching the news about Marysville and Henerysville Indiana getting completley destroyed by tornados. The manager of the funeral homes I work for called and wanted me to take call this weekend. He is getting ready to make the 5 hour drive from northern Indiana to Heneryville. He worked at the Pyke Funeral Home Now Adams Funeral Home when is was in school. The school is in Jeffersonville 16 miles south of there. So far they are reporting 4 deaths. He is also the full time fire chief and is getting ready to take the mobile command trailer down there. I have been thru several tornados and do not care to go thru one again.

Have been watching on CNN,this is devastating,my heart goes out to all affected, but if I know one thing about my american friends, you will get up,dust yourselves off,and rebuild. My prayers are with you..

Thoughts and prayers to all in the path. We had a tornado here in 1985. It was the first one I could ever remember and I recall thinking, "This is Pennsylvania, we don't have tornado's here". Many people died and it sure did alot of damage. It was actually three tornado's that came together to make one. I will never forget looking at the damage the next few days, wow.

Good luck and if you don't have a basement, go to the inside most room of your house and if possible, get under something sturdy.

definitely some strange weather this year. we are cold one day hot the next up here. so far the only tornado we have had here i was in albany for . I hope to keep it that way

Hit Georgia last night too. Danny and I are okay. Sounds like he just got thunderstorms up in his area, but we've heard tornadoes touched down around us. We were with neighbors and the pups in the basement when it blew over. At least one touchdown was on the other side of me about a mile away. Damaged the small park where we take the dogs to walk, but oddly didn't damage the neighborhoods around the park.

My friends are all okay too. My biggest worry was a friend's mother who lives next to the park. She actually wasn't home, but should have been. She was driving a few miles away, when a tree fell in front of her. She hit it bringing the car to a stop, and then more trees started coming down on her. Thankfully she is fine, but the car is not.

... And you're probably not dodging bullets like they often do in Arizona (13 shot outside an Arizona nightclub last night)

Well after 3 tornado warnings yesterday afternoon, looks like for the most part we dodged it. just before the pouer went out they were saying there was a tornado on the ground, but the only real damage I have heard about here is to a factory about a mile or mile and a half away. We were a little on edge yesterday sence we have already had a tornado hit just a mile down the road in january. Adam, glad to here that you and Jen and Danny are ok. When i talked to Danny lastnight it wasn't doing anything there yet. While some of us were able to dodge it, there were others like Southern Indiana, and Northern Kentucky, and many other places that were hit very hard, and many people were hurt or killed. My hart goes out to them and there familys.

Used to not be like this here!

It used to not be this bad here in past years for tornadoes. Here are a couple photos that I shot from the front porch of the funeral home. You can see the wall cloud that had dropped down that did later become a tornado for a couple counties to our northeast. As this passed we didn't get the first drop or rain or piece of hail at the funeral home Friday evening as the storms past though here. We had no damages at the funeral home or at my house ether.
