Tony Karsnia - Deceased - 1971-2020
September 12, 1971 - November 2, 2020
A big thanks to all who came out for the Northland Chapter's Mid-Winter Warm-Up meet on Saturday. We had 13 people (and two professional cars; one 1:1 scale and one 1:18 scale) in attendance for a day of fun at Ham Lake Lanes in Ham Lake, MN.
Our day began with a breakfast buffet, enjoyed in our own private meeting room. Before heading out to the alleys to knock down pins, we held our annual business meeting. The current slate of officers was re-elected after reports were given by each. Other topics of discussion included this year's roster of activities and our chapter's bid to host the 2014 PCS International Meet in Rochester, MN.
Seemed like everyone came to the meeting excited to share some photos and / or news:
John Nisja had some old photos from Kost Ambulance Service in Mankato, MN and spoke about the article he is writing for our chapter newsletter.
Scott Anderson spoke about the ongoing restoration of his 1971 M-M Cadillac Volunteer ambulance and how he recently took his first drive in it 11 miles home from the mechanic's shop with no heat!
Joe & Trudy Klein had photos of their current restoration project; a 1970 Superior Cadillac hi-top ambulance.
Clyde Swenson drove in from Paynesville, MN with photos of his recently-acquired 1967 Superior Cadillac 51" ambulance.
Jeremy Moberg drove the 200 miles from Moorhead, MN in his Eureka "Builac" hearse to attend the meet. He brought his friend, Cathie and a former chapter member, John Bucholz, who is excited about re-joining. Jeremy told us about his new project too, but we were sworn to secrecy on that one!
At the end of the day, Gene Rafferty had the highest bowling score and took home the '59 Superior Cadillac hearse model, donated by one of our chapter's corporate sponsors, Die Cast Auto.
I know I am posting this from the office and my camera is at home. Will try to get some images on here later.
Thanks again to all who braved the steady snowfall to attend, making this another great Northland Chapter event.
