Swab Ambulance

Many of you have heard of the company Swab, which was an early builder of the box-style ambulances. But they've been around since 1868 - yes, the Swab Wagon Co. (still their name) started in 1868, after the Civil War.

I've never seen this before, it's a Swab professional car ambulance. I'm not certain what the chassis is, since I can't tell by profile. But it stands to reason that, since they built all sorts of things, they built car-chassis ambulances as well.

The photo is from the Swab Ambulance and Rescue Facebook site, and credited to the company archives. Identification welcome.

they Keep showing up don't they. people you would never have thought of being a builder have dabbled in a few of them. this is what the front end might look like. it the first family car I can remember.

the hood ornament looks to be like the loops on the top of the sailing ship. my bet is on a Plymouth body
