stupid people

i brought my eureka to the house from the shop to start unloading all my clothes we put in it while the house was gutted. had it in the driveway since last wed. and was using it to put things im gonna donate to goodwill. i got a notice in my mailbox sat. from the homeowners assoc. stating that no commercial vehicles are allowed overnite in their subdivision. (there's!!) well they can well... i told them it was my personnel car and they in their infinite wisdom informed me that it wasn't. i offered to show them the title to no evail. i was told people complained about a death car parked at my house. i told them to sue me. i walked down to the hoa presidents house and what did i see? a f250 with the name of his plumbing co. on the door. it was on then. he told me it was his truck and so he could park it were he wanted. i went home and made him a note from his neighbors that said we didnt want a commercial plumbing truck parked in our neighborhood. taped it to his windshield and havent heard a word since. people are so ignorrant of our hobby and cars. wait till i park the ambulance in the drive. i volunteer at the local vfd and fully intend to respond to a fire call with my car when its done by driving by his house with the q2 fully screaming. here in texas vfd members run hot to fires with there personnel vehicles. now i have a old 95 caprice that i bought from another fireman with a lite bar and a pa200. i usually dont run a call from my house and only make calls while at the station when i sqedule myself. this will change starting now. wait till they get a load of this!! all over a hearse. dumb people...

The "Death Car" lol since I bought my Coach a few years ago not too many people talk to me anymore...they just kind of look my way and give a little polite wave but never stop to talk. now when they see the Ambulance out in the drivway......they just shake their heads and keep walking lol

We all have our stories on how are neighbors reacted. When i got my first hearse back in 98 or so, my neighbors got together in a group and tried to petition me to get rid of it. Ha Ha ha Two years later there were 3 in my yard and regularly lined up in front of the house :D

Nobody on the street even looks twice anymore.. Funny thing is i have gone threw about 5 different ones over the years and all people say if they see me is you have had that hearse a long time now .

Ah the Magic of 1 am. 2 am. 3 am. 4 am. 5 am. in our state an emergency vehicle must have a siren on when responding emergently (police are allowed to not use lights and sirens but still exceed the speed limit etc depending on their type of run

I've always been lucky with mine I guess. One of my neighbor offered up space if I got another one and had no where to keep it.

Amazing true stories.

I have had two people recently stop and bless them selves with the sign of the cross as I drive by them. One of the two people has done it twice now and he usually takes his hat off when he does it. Another thing people have done in front of the coach is walk out into the cross walk with out looking, after the light changes while I am staring at them waiting for them to see me. Ok went the light changes, that means I can leave from behind the cross walk, not you walking out into moving traffic. I guess they can go home and brag about almost getting run over by a hearse.

When i hear that stuff it always drives me wild. You pay property taxes and also have to keep up on your estate, and these association tell you what you can do and cant, what light's you can have ect. But i guess you had to sign a contract when you bought the place that states that. I too agree that im so happy im in the country and people are not telling me what i can and cant do in my drive way. I bet that association would not like the hunk of concrete that i poured for my own burn out pit, in my yard!!!

Years ago when I ran a standby ambulance service in Lubbock, for many years we were totally volunteer. I owned the ambulances, but made no money off the service and all our guys volunteered their time. And the service, itself, was registered as a volunteer ambulance service.

For many years I lived at an off-campus housing facility for Texas Tech students and was allowed to park our ambulances in the parking garage with no problem. But in 1979 I moved into my first-ever house. I kept a couple of the ambulances at my house and let a couple of our guys keep the other two. One day I got a nasty note from the city saying that a city ordinance forbidded keeping more than one commerical vehicle on private property. I told them that we were registered as a volunteer service as were the ambulances. They guy from the city kirtly told me, "Wedetermine what is commercial or not. You can't have both of them there at the same time. I told him, "You don't determine, that, the state already has and you don't have anything to say about it." His mouth flew wide open and he turned and walked away and we never heard another word from them again! You have to stand up to these idiots!

I live in a rural area and just finished my ambulance and had great reaction from my neighbors so I guess I am lucky. They allready think I'm crazy any way because I have many municipal typs of vehicles..2 pole buildings full...buses,fire trucks, police cars and now the ambulance.People around here kind of like different old vehicles..

update

well i have a garage too but the truth is its full. maybe they will try and tell me i cant have something in my garage they dont approve of next. last halloween everyone seemed to enjoy my cars but i guess thats only when its appropriate. ran a trash fire from my house at 1 am night before last and slowly drove through nthe subdivision as i didnt want to break there 20 mph speed limit. of course yelping all the way. gotta get a couple of beacons on the caprice and a pair of cp25's to enhance my warning ability as the one grill speaker just aint gonna cut it. gotta warn everyone im coming through to the rescue. the garbage fire was out when we got there as the property owner had a water hose. but hey, i did my civic duty. and i hope woke em all up.

What year is the Caprice, Kyle? I had a nice old '94 Caprice that was an ex-police car; and did that thing s**t and get!

hey skip, its a 95 ex humble, tx cheifs car. i bought it from a member of the vfd and he had put a federal strobe lightbar on it and it has a speaker on the push bar. ive done nothing but service the car and now it has 135k miles but is in great shape. i did put a set of flowmasters on it and a aftermarket air intake but other than petty little things i have not had to do much. and your right it will fly. my brother in law has a ford crown vic he uses for extra jobs and it is a nice car also but my caprice runs off and leaves it. no contest as the vic just aint got the cahones the 350 does. has bucket seats and they are comfy but really wish it had a split bench. oh i did put a fuel pump on it but thats all and ive had it for 5 years now. im keeping it too. not gonna get weak and sell it.

Come on, Kyle, you're getting weaker, weaker, weaker! Yes, it's mine!:D

My Caprice had the LT-1 engine. That's why it would fly. Without realizing it, I made the 20 mi. trip from Odessa back into Midland one afternoon. I was just leaving Odessa headed to Midland to see my dad at the assisted living facility when the toned out an explosion at Lee H.S. On went the dash light and away I went. Made it in unde 10 minutes. It wasn't until I suddenly passed the airport, the halfway point, that I realized I was doing almost 110 and backed off! I'd agree, the Caprice is a keeper, Kyle!

I've also got a '97 CVPI that I bought in '02 and drove until about two years ago when it just gave up. I enjoyed driving it and had it fixed up quite well, but it was no match for that old Caprice.

I recently traded for a '94 Buick Roadmaster wagon. It's a bit rough, and I need to find the front grille and the left front corner light to get it ready for inspection. It has the LT-1 engine like my old Caprice had and it's also a runner; but it's parked until I get the cosmetics fixed so I can get it tagged, etc.
