stuff in the mail

we got some stuff in the mail today. much anticipated to. but were we surprised. Richard added a few cars to the light, rounded out my collection some what.
I have never seen the green and white delco box. remember the black and yellow one but not the green. the NOS shocks were a touch rusty but then so is the 53. they will clean up nicely however. the surprise rattling around in there is a hard thing to find.

but the lesson learned today will stick with me!! if you want to keep them don't clean up you reflector tags in the rust dissolver. I don't know if it was the chemical or the heat. as I had heated the water to speed up the action. but the plastic slid right off. what ever it was they used to adhere it to the tags was a gummy mess on the back side. the rust was gone how ever. some times you get what you ask for.

Holy Cow!

I didn't think there was anything that would remove that plastic. I wanted to get some year stickers off a plate a while back and never did get them off. They are the same stuff. You may have to patent the process Ed:thumb:

Don't mean to change the subject but Sometimes if you heat the back of the license plate up on your stove (works better with a gas stove) you can carefully peel the decal off. It is kinda tricky tho, and you only get one shot to do it.

I have removed the date stickers using a commercial heat gun. Looks like a hair drier, but it is hot enough will singe your brain cells...

the nice part of the air gun is you can peel it down to the one you want. any 1500 watt hair drier will put out enough heat to loosen the glue but this sliding off the whole reflector, man I did not think anything could do that. I was using a bucket heater to warm the water up to round 100 degrees and though what the heck and slid the plates in to. we won't do that again just tossed 20 bucks out the window
