Strech limo demo derby

There are A lot of demo derbies going on at all the local fairs this time of year. Went to one Friday ( mostly 90's Crown Vics) Big one tonight in Northampton Ma. It sucks to see a pro car in the derby , but still interesting.

Richard, French! that's the derby I was talking about on another post. they destroyed a '67 Superior hearse last year with few 80's ones and they will do it again this year with a '75 M-M. Shame but they still buy them more than 2000$, with pro cars they are sure they win against the civics.. the final prize is 10 000$.

Just got back from the Northampton derby. The rear ends of all the 80's cads that i saw fold down. This causes the rear wheels to come off the ground stopping the car from continuing. The hearses seem to hold up better.

Martin, are these derbies pictured in Canada?

10 GRAND ..... DAMN !!!!!! I have never seen prize money around here more then 6 hundred .

Martin will have to correct me if I get the spelling wrong, but they have a annual horse show in Ste Tete? Quebec, which is nothing short of amazing, takes the old rodeo and adds extreme sports to the event they are fearless down there...so seeing this demolition derby does not surprise me,begs the question whats next......

Wayne, St-Tite ! You're right it's a kinda national western festival that celebrates more the country music than rodeo. I never been anyway im more on car shows than cowgirls with too high jeans on the hips

Paul: I went to get some parts for my NYPD car 2 years ago near St-Georges-de-Beauce where they do this kind of derby. I was amazed how many big 60's and 70's parts car the guy owned and he told me about this derby. He owned a 1970 Combination he was planning to sell to another derby guy... what he did last year... These guys usually buy some cheap but running cars for less than 500$ and they work on during the winter. The first round winner is 5000$, if the car stay and wins for round 2 it's another 5000$ They usually buy those big 70's lincolns and they cheat on the frame to get it stronger. It's sad, I die every time I see that but when nobody want to buy a car what's left? The scrapyard to have something like 300$ of steel or the derby, where you will have some fun with and can win more. Just like the guy with full of cash who bought caddy ambulances and used them as advertisement. He paid, he owns it.

3 years ago a guy came with a 60's Superior he won of course so now they started a special vehicle category, that's what you see on both videos.

Back in the early '80s, a good friend of mine ran a '60 Miller-Meteor Duplex in the Faribault County Fair Derby in Blue Earth, MN. The car was rust-free and was just missing its windshield when he bought it. That was one tough car! I believe that he ran it in 3 derbies before it was too folded up to run anymore. He won money every time he ran it and they usually had a $2000 total purse back in those days. When he was done with it, the 390 was pulled, rebuilt, and used to replace the engine in the '56 Meteor 3-way landau that I dropped a valve in while driving. That '56 Meteor was the one that I was using for my avitar until recently.
