The next Southeastern Chapter Meet will be held in Pinehurst NC, about 90 miles due east of Charlotte (but you don't have to go through Charlotte to get there; I-74 is actually the Interstate that is closest to it). One of the favorite activities of recent meets there is the explosive dismantling of Lifeliner and Criterion ambulances. Can we count you & Richard in? :bonk:
Terri, naturally I'm just kidding! Pinehurst is a popular retirement community and being a Floridian you know that where retirees are, old cars, model railroads, and other fun stuff usually follow. There is a small but active AACA chapter there and we hook up w/ them at their show. Jamie is a member of that chapter and we've always been well received. The show is held Satuday at the Pinehurst harness track, just across from the famous Pinehurst Golf Club & Resort. It's not a huge show-I'm not very good at guessing how many cars-but there is always a nice variety from early teens/20s to recent, as well as some European cars. There have been some beautiful Porsches, Mercedes-Benz, and Ferraris in the past. Most folks arrive on Friday evening and stay until Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. The Comfort Inn that Jamie usually recommends is just a few miles away. The Saturday show is the most formal event, other activites we've done are area fire department and funeral home tours, and plenty of good food and fellowship. It takes a while just to see Jamie's car collection and funeral homes. I hope you can join us!
