i now have the 66 painted. but of course no matter how careful you are there is always something that shows up in a old car with the fresh paint. this one looked like something had dropped on the hood at some time in it's life. and out side in the sunlight the black made it look like a moon crater. it was one of those kind you can chase all over the hood and never really get out. a little heat with the torch would be the way to go. that would require repainting so I call my son to come down for his birthday and bring his tools.
I was worried about one, he took out 3 for Jim. so we have fixed this 40 yo old car with the newest paintless dent repair method. the kid pulled my chestnuts out of the fire. thanks son. he is getting ready to head south hoping for hail soon so I had to get it done before he left.

I'll bet that dent is a result of one of the Worcester Summer National bathing beauties sitting on the hood for a picture....

When I was in paint and body school, my teachers motto was stud welder and bondo. If it was already painted and we found a dent, it left with that dent. Ed, its nice to see someone who takes pride in there work, and wants the car to leave looking as good as it possibly can. Even the things you find when your working on a car that you think someone else won't notice, your better off to fix it, cause you can bet, someone will see it.

in that method they use the yellow light with the black line to show up the dent as they work it out. your really looking at the shadow the dent leaves. then with a whole box of different pry bars he will work the dimple till you see no shadow. most of these kind of dents will not show up in a picture. I got lucky with the door ding in the quarter and you can just see the shadow in the light ban. John has been doing this for a bout 6 years now and he has gotten vary good at it. I still marvel at how simple he makes it look. none of these cars are vary smooth. you can really tell when you go off the GM metal and go on to the aftermarket panels. but a still I would like for Jim to be able to put his own in it. being as we had to remove the dumpster dent.
the one in the hood had to have been something hard dropped. the broken glue pads were the beauties lounging . :thumb:
