Secret Service seeking bids for new presidential limo

They really need to make the switch to the Escalade platform on the next limo. There is nothing at all classy about the "Beast". It's somewhat grotesque, in my opinion.

Why don't they wait and see what Hillary Clinton would like to ride in..............................OH !!!! I can hear it now, DAMN CANADIANS.;)

I can't wait.

I loved the sound of it before and I look forward to hearing it again. President Clinton. I enjoyed saying "Good Morning, Mr. President" to one Clinton and I can't wait to say "Good Morning, Ms. President." to another Clinton. You guys got me all excited just thinking about it.

Damn Canadians!

But seriously, by 2017, the existing limos will be 9 years old and probably pretty high mileage. And be using 9 year old technology for the electronics and "whatnot". It may be time...

Remember.

Those cars get loaded on and off transport planes and bounced around the world day in and day out. They get more abuse than you might imagine. And in todays world nine years in an eternity in the technology department.

my question is just what do you do with one of these after your done with it. can't be a big market to dump it on.

but maybe we could get something better. like a sprinter van. put glass sides in it and and a bark-a-lounger or two in the back and your good to go.

this last set has had a brake down every were it's been taken. they even ran it out of gas in a parade in Spain due to faulty wiring. hung it up on a curb in England when the air bags collapsed. it quit them in med east trip. no I'm hoping they don't just try to toss something together this time but build something at is reliable. the need for high tack electronics will kill anything. when we get it understood that the car doesn't need to try to out do every hand held device out there we'll get back to something that we all can use.

I personally preferred the old Ford Motor Company way of supplying White House vehicles on a token lease basis... never relinquishing ownership so they could saved and preserved forever. Otherwise, Kenneth Howe would not have his beautiful Truman Cosmopolitan now, the '39 Sunshine Special Lincoln (up-dated several times by FMC) and JFK cars at the Henry Ford Museum, etc. MM
