Is anyone attending her visitation and/or funeral? Unless we get busy Terri and I are planning on driving the Lifeliner over.
 
Obituary.............
Roegner, Sandra “Sandy”. November 27, 1957- October 27, 2020. Age 62 of Whitmore Lake. Beloved daughter of the late Roland and Dorothy Roegner. Sandy will be deeply missed by her many friends & co-workers including Russell Dalziel, Julie Finn and Susan Gamalski. Visitation Tuesday, November 10, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Dearborn Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23701 Ford Rd. Funeral service Wednesday 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A live stream of the funeral service will be provided for the public on Wednesday. Please go to Sandy's tribute wall on her obituary page and a link will be provided. Interment Parkview Memorial Cemetery.

Sandy was born in Detroit, MI and lived in Livonia, MI for most of her life. She graduated from Livonia Bentley in 1975 received an Associate’s Degree from Rochester College, Rochester, MI. She went to EMT School at Botsford Hospital EMT program. Sandy worked for several ambulance companies while going to school including Emergency Specialties Service (ESS) and then became one of the first dispatchers for Huron Valley Ambulance (HVA). She left HVA to become a compliance analyst for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) where she worked for 35 years. She earned several awards at the NLRB and she was an advocate for the union. Sandy’s passion was for crocheting, her cats, knitting, quilting and sewing. You would find Sandy working the Sewing Expo at Suburban collection. She also worked security for the EMS Expo. Sandy also had a passion for professional cars and served as the Vice President for the Motor City Chapter of Professional Car Society (PCS). You would see her at various PCS events across the country and Canada. Sandy would bring lots of laughs and smiles to everyone she met! Please note: Due to current Covid-19 safety precautions, there are restrictions on chapel capacity. Friends and family may need to come in and out to pay respects on a rotating basis. Hi. I would like to Thank Richard & Terri Vyse. Brady Smith.& The Rev Jim Vowell for their Assistance with Sandy's Funeral. I would also like to thank Huron Valley Ambulance Honor Guard for standing guard over Sandy as she lay in state. Please if you can send a donation to Sandy's Go Fund me Account that would be great as we are very low on our amount of Funds to pay for her Funeral.. Note. Sandy's Estate will be going to probate court as her life insurance policy is directed to her estate which could take up to a year to get answered.

Interesting. Once the probate and life insurance issues are settled, will the GoFundMe donations be refunded?
 
It was an honor to attend her funeral services. Brady had his 59 hearse but refused to place a light on his hearse to lead the procession. Can't blame him for that. So that opened the door for me to lead in the Lifeliner and lead we did. I had a Voran employee with me guiding me to the cemetery and I blew that siren the entire way. People on both sides of the street were stopping, and in Detroit. He said he never gets people to do that.
What a treasure for bystanders to see my Lifeliner, Brady's 59, Russ's ambulance, and a big box ambulance with another 12 cars. Awesome and sure Sandy would be smiling all the way.

Now, as we were headed home Brady was following me for a little while on the expressway. I kept going faster and faster waiting for Brady and the 59 to lag behind. Nope, he stayed right with me to the point I failed to take my exit. Imagine what I had to listen to from Terri over that.

RIP Sandra, you will be and you are missed.

Good for him. There is nothing more out of place, distracting, and undignified than warning lights on a hearse (or any other funeral home vehicle in a procession, unless it is a lead car).

Richard with all due respect it sounds more like a 4th of July parade than a funeral procession for such a somber event. Did the family and loved ones approve this code-3 procession with THREE sirens blasting to the cemetery I hope?

I'm guessing so, but it doesn't say anything about the family's wishes.

You've offended people in actual parades for making such a spectacle, I can only imagine how the family would feel if this wasn't first approved by them. Not trying to rain on your parade, but a funeral procession is not the time to be showing off your Lifeliner as it's not about you, it's about Sandy.

Considering Sandy's "family" is Russ & Barb Dalziel & her close friends & co-workers who were there, it appears to me that everyone was onboard with it. If it was an issue, I would think the funeral home employee that was riding shotgun would have said something. Also, having 2 other ambulances in the procession kind of gives it credibility. I think you are reading too much into this, Abe.
 
That makes sense, you guys are right. I wasn't aware that you guys are Sandy’s family, thank you for pointing that out. I love pro-cars running lights and sirens ablaze as much as -- if not more than -- the next guy, and it most definitely was in Sandy’s honor giving her a proper send-off.

I guess it was in the same spirit as those famous New Orleans jazz funerals known as the ”second line”; the ceremony is somber, sober, and reverant until the preacher says a-men at the funeral at which time the celebration of the dearly departed’s life begins as they are brought to their final resting place.

Richard, this was only one persons opinion, and doesn't represent the entirety of the Professional Car Society membership.

Richard after Jim and Rick clarified further, I realized I was wrong. I apologize to everyone, I should have never said anything at all. I'm glad you guys were able to escort Sandy to her final resting place in honor and glory, and I wish I could have been there. Unfortunately I tend to speak before thinking sometimes, and I sincerely apologize.
 
I had a good friend who was a steam train nut and a qualified engineer for same. He was an engineer for a local senic/steam railroad. He passed from a Diabetic issue. His final request was for his next to last ride to be on the train he ran. SO be it. The FD brought the casket to the train in a Cadillac it was loaded aboard by the pall bearers the Minister came aboard and away we went. Service was done. The train reached the end of the 15 mile short line reversed and back to the start we went. Unloaded the casket back into the Hearse and away he went. No graveside service not in his plan. Off to lunch and more stories of his days and times.

Sounds like a wonderful procession and send-off for Sandy, knowing her, I'm sure she'd be pleased. i'm sorry I couldn't make it (and the livestream link didn't work), but I was there in spirit. RIP Sandy.
 
You sure it wasn't her running the sirens?. Good recovery Abe. Not being close to everyone just knowing they makes it hard to pass judment. We lacked judges at the Rapid meet. So Sue and Sandy stepped up and the 3 of us judged body and trim togathet. For her a lifeliner beat a jase band anyday
