S&S Emblem Metal ID?

Anyone know what kind of metal these emblems are made of? They look to be brass, but I'm not sure that they are. I have tryed to polish them, but I'm not having much luck.

they felt to me like pot or base or die cast. everyone has a different term for it. they just took them out of the copper bath and did not nickle them. then they tarnished to that lovely patina. try a brass brush and some metale polish just don't scrach the painted back ground
 
When Vogue Tyre was supplying gold plated emblems on the Cadillacs in the eighties and nineties they recommended CLR for lightly corroded emblems. I tried the CLR and it always seemed to work well. I would recommend trying it on an obscure place on the emblem first. Once we had the emblem looking good, we would then clear coat the emblem so it would stay looking nice.
