Rubber full floor covering

Thomas E Westfall - Deceased 1970 - 2017

July 7, 1970 ~ June 10, 2017
It has been a long time since I have been on here but the last year or so has been a nightmare that I think I finally woke up from
I'm making headway on my 57 mercury amblewagon but I can't seam to find a full rubber floor mat. I just don't think carpet will look right. Your thought greatly appreciated

Thank you
Tom

Rubber Flooring

Tom: I'm at about the same point with my Lifeliner. If anyone has a better suggestion I'd appreciate hearing about it.
Go to restorationspecialties.com. I'm looking at their 2010 catalogue, page 82. They have various styles of rubber matting. I'm planning on putting down "carpet tex/pebble grain." It comes 36 inches wide and the cost per linear foot is $13.25. I'll keep watching for other suggestions. Good luck!
Kevin

most of the carpet manufactures will mold you a rubber rug, no heal pad but it will fit the car. that would be the way I would go.

Rubber Floor

The upholstery shop that did the interior of our 64 M-M was able to order one which was an exact replacement, it obviously fit perfectly. If you would like I will be happy to give you his company info

The gentleman you want to talk to is John Fox, his company is Foxy's Tops & Upholstery. (716)864-8681. His work on the interior of our car was outstanding. The attached picture was taken when he was working in the front of the car, he did the entire patient compartment also.

I had no luck as well when hunting for a rubber mat for my Lifeliner.

In the end I used a rubber floor mat from a late model Suburban and cut it down. It didn't fit perfectly (a few ridges against the firewall) but it was deep enough to cover under the seat. I used ribbed rubber floor runner (4' width)for the area mid-way under the seat to the divider.

Richard got a rubber rug for some place in Texas for his MM. you could drop him a PM. nothing fits the hump of these cars correctly. MM solved the problem but cutting there own carpet out if a flat piece and edging it. the 68 I let go to Bill had the original carpet in it. but now if it was me looking I would first call JC Whitney's 800 number and ask then if they had a supplier for rubber rugs in the car your after. if not then order a big hunk of flooring from Restoration specialties. the have it in pebble pyramid and striped. 42 inches wide. then some Taylor paper to make a pattern off the floor and cut one out. carpet tape will hold the edges and a little dental floss sewn in key spots will hold it together.

I had to go dig out the pictures I took when we were doing Paul's 69. for some reason the hump in these cars are smaller then the standard caddy. that why you get the excess there on the stamped replacement carpet. here is were miller made there cuts in 68. if you were doing one out of rubber they would be in the same place on most every make. every car I have been in the back was put down before the front. don't for get the one over by the kick panel.
